Why do therapies for Cfs make me more tired and stressed? Lightning process, Mickel therapy, reverse therapy, optimum health clinic etc, I tried them all and they all made me crash

Thank you both so very much Speaking as a meditator of 30 years, I cannot emphasize enough the important role mind and thoughts play in our own healing. Measuring even the smallest progress daily, consciously extracting the Good in every part of your journey, and never forgetting to gives thanks for everything will open a door for more Good things to come your way! Don't forget to congratulate yourself. You've come this far! Love and Best Wishes Elizabeth.

After 40 plus years, family is most important, they understand my fatigue levels, but I still get depleted and takes a few days to recover. Lost friends long ago. We did have a support group, but it fizzled out…due to age, and non commitment of others. Recently found FB helpful. I have ME/CFS mildly and my wife has it moderately to severe at times. Thanks Alex

I've been fighting this disease for over 40yrs. I've always been a homebody, so the being home dorsn't bother me. I do have a couple of friends that come over weekly. My family is very supportive also.

I've definitely experienced all 4, but mostly mental and physical fatigue. I find it so important to spend time with those people I feel completely comfortable with who know me well, rather than putting myself in situations where the socialising is going to be more of an "effort", i.e. people I don't know as well, or in a bigger group situation, which can often make both the mental and physical fatigue worse, and actually be draining rather than lifting me - plus the addition of social anxiety when I'm not feeling my best.

When I did optimum health clinic I learned about the 'healing state' I can put my body into it but it's almost impossible to stay in a state of calm and peace unless I stay in the house all day. I'm not sure how to navigate it
@anncollinson4821Ай бұрын
Alex, you’ve been doing this for years, yet you always have bright lights in the background and wave your arms about which makes it so difficult (and draining) to watch. Please can you dim the lights and avoid bright backgrounds and stay still, (and ideally not show people running as an example of gentle exercise!) to make them more accessible to those of us who would like to watch more but come away with blinding headaches whenever we do? I hope so. Thanks.

Isn’t it adrenal fatigue?
@patriciasalem3606Ай бұрын
Great tips. My family members completely understand my recent knee injury but can't quite get their brains around my fibromyalgia. I get a lot of "you just need to get more exercise" or "we're all tired these days." What helps me cope? For one, I work for myself, which makes it easier to set my own schedule and take days off or change deadlines when I need to. I realize, though, that's not feasible for everyone. Also, radical acceptance -- giving in to the knowledge that, at least for now, I'm not going to be able to do the things I used to do or have as full a schedule as before. And I may not again. I have to reevaluate goals and tactics all the time, especially when events outside my control (pandemic, economy, California wildfires, etc.) are another hurdle in the mix. Finally, getting enough sleep is a biggie. It's of course a good thing for everyone, but I find when I'm tired, I'm not just dealing with the physical aspects of chronic fatigue. I get weepy and more emotional than when I'm well rested.

Gentle breath work/deep breathing helps, as well as getting outside, even if only on the balkong. Talking to a friend also tend to help an emotional shift:)

Extended anxiety ends up shutting me down in that Im exhausted in the morning and into much of the day. Plus when i have a particular strong spike of anxiety it really wipes me and I feel like Im getting sick, like what i imagine adrenal fatigue feels like but then that apparently doesnt exist! Cant exercise Im truly exhausted. Along with the anxiety and fatigue i also freeze, everything in my life comes to a halt. Being able to plan, think ahead, and literally get up and move I just want to sit and stare into my phone scrolling. Oh and then i binge eat craving energy . Its when i know Ive let the anxiety get too far out of hand.

This really helped me understand that my adrenal fatigue from chronic stress had impacted my physical anxiety. I had already recognised I was still holding tension in my body. I would like to know why, when the evidence for deep relaxation helping fatigue recovery, the NHS website on ME CFS says there isn't any evidence that it helps healing. Thank you Alex. I have 2 of your amazing books. I read Decode your fatigue and did the challenge and now I am reading It's not your fault. Really helpful. Also helped to know that my fatigue now could be due to the nervous system healing itself. That is very reassuring indeed
