Congrats to the admitted Engineering students! 🎉 We love Purdue even more after we watched this video. My son who is into Engineering since he was a little kid, he loves Purdue since he visited the school, and Purdue becomes his #1 even we live in NY. However he got deferred during EA, really hope that he will get admitted in the regular round.

Sounds like an awesome college. Love the emphasis on the whole kid and not just GPA. So many of my best and valuable employees are more than their high school GPA.

Does this degree come under STEM education? so that an International can apply for the STEM extension.

Hi Rajesh! According to the Dept. of Homeland Security's Designated Degree Program List, Biological Engineering is acceptable. I'd recommend you reach out to our International Students and Scholars office for confirmation and other other questions you may have regarding student visas, as they are experts on the subject!

Sorry no one has commented so I will be the first. My daughter had the exact same experience as you... Purdue was last on her list, but after the visit and specifically the interaction with the students, it went right to the top. As a graduate of Wisconsin, I can tell you I was VERY impressed by what Purdue was doing, right from the engineering visit.... We walked down the mall, and talked with guys from the Chem E program, and they were, as you said, SO enthusiastic. Out of all the visits we did to other schools, only ONE garnished a text home saying "I think this is it!". BTW I will be there in November for the Purdue Wisconsin game. Actually not sure who I want to win now..... ;) I gained huge respect after our visit.

Hi Ranim! I knew my whole life that I wanted to do engineering, but one of the most difficult things for me was finding which engineering major suited my passions the most. When I was in high school, I took every opportunity to learn about any type of engineering major. From taking a civil engineering class, to touring an autoclave manufacturing facility, to conducting research at UCLA over summer in Environmental Engineering where I basically tested dog poop all summer, I took every opportunity I could to learn about all of engineering majors because I wanted to know what all of them were like before I decided which route I wanted to go. But I ended up narrowing down that I loved airplanes, from military aircraft to commercial, all of those were really intriguing to me. There were times I debated between aero and mechanical and even industrial engineering, but one advice that I was told that was helpful is to imagine doing hours of really hard hw that's extremely challenging and gruesome, would you want those problems to be tailored towards aircraft and spacecraft, or would you like for it to be more board like a pulley system or engine (for mechanical engineering). You'll have your whole first year to decide which major is best suited towards to and once you're on campus you can talk with more students to get their perspective!
