USB ports appear to work as mouse(wireless) works in either usb port. Your help with this would be greatly appreciated.

This is interesting…I have done some soldering…etc…but…considering I can buy an external 2TB NVME M.2 SSD to put my home folder on with waaaaaaay faster write & read speeds than the Mac Internals for about $250 ….This is kind of silly! 😀

Upgrading the hard drive was unnecessary effort; it would have been worthwhile if it had been for memory. However, for a desktop PC, you could have simply plugged in a USB drive instead.

What i cannot understand if the SSD ever goes out even after 1-3 years or the 4-5 year the computer is junk unless you have the skills to do this. The very reason apple stopped us from upgrading ssd & ram us so they became a trillion $$ business now. Apple is just stealing everyone’s money. Im done buying Apple anything. Its our machine we bought and paid for it we should have the right to upgrade. Pure greed on apple’s part if steve jobs was alive i doubt this would have even been allowed to happen. I believe this is all Tim Cook that came up with the idea to stop the upgrade’s so he can get richer !! Isn’t he rich enough i prefer steve jobs over this Tim Cook.

This was such a freaking awesome transfer of knowledge. Well I don;t know about transfer but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't have your skills but I sure as shit have the thirst for knowledge can you provide links to the tools i.e stencils and such used for reballing. I have old components laying around I can practice on. Won't be like you but I can definitely start the process of learning.

also a side note. where you ground down the board. you could just make it more safer from any debris coming into contact with the exposed traces. by using some soldering mask on that exposed traces. but thats just something i would have done.

the only thing about his video that IRKED me was the fact the flux from the reseating of the NAND was still on the board and wasnt properly cleaned off the board. apart from that. atleast you can use the board as a specced out mac mini. respect. another piece of tech not contributing to E-Waste

Only thing I dont understand is how do you eyeball the alignment for the NANDs once you resolder ? is there markings? a few mm off and the balls wont be aligned correctly, the rest seems doable !

I was debating whether to get base model mac m4 min for 750USD ( costs that much where I am from ) or 32GB/512GB Ryzen 890 / 8845HS Minisforum for about $500 . Main point of Mac was its silent operation and unix like Macos whereas with minisforum I would need to install Linux ( I am a developer so Windows is just not an option ). But after watching this video and realizing 'forget upgradable, this shyt is not even repairable', I decided to go with the Minisforum or other similar option.
