Happy to see a new video from you!! The camerawork is always so nice and relaxed, I really enjoyed seeing Hokkaido through your eyes. I think some foreigners, like me, might avoid visiting Hokkaido due to the increased language barrier compared to Tokyo, but now I feel I must try it someday thanks to you
@miwa-kyoto20 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind comment!! Yes, we haven’t had much time to upload videos lately, but we’re hoping to pick up the pace this year. We have 2-3 videos pending and plan to explore and film more this year🍀 And yes, you shouldn’t have any problems visiting Hokkaido. It's pretty straight forward, so language barrier isn't a huge issue. It’s definitely best to rent a car so you can drive around and enjoy the nature surrounding the cities (tbh, there were A LOT of tourists at the typical sights in Sapporo and Otaru, so we didn’t bother exploring those areas much). We visited more places than what’s shown in the video, just driving around, relaxing, and eating. Hokkaido is perfect for lazy travelers like us! 😆

Yes, Niigata is so chill, and we miss it so much! 😿You can actually do all of this without a car, as the winery has a free shuttle bus from Uchino Station, which is 22 minutes from Niigata Station. Shuttle bus must be booked in advance though.

Great video, thank you. What the diference Showa-kan museum and Takayama Retro museum in the south (near nakabashi bridge)?
@miwa-kyoto4 ай бұрын
Thank you! Both are very similar, but Showa-kan attempts to recreate a street from the Showa era, while the Retro Museum focuses more on games and entertainment. At the Retro Museum, you can also try school meals from that period.

@miwa-kyoto Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment🌿 We have chosen to highlight upscale and/or unique accommodations because we operate as a luxury travel agency, and these high-end options are not often featured in travel videos. Outside of our occasional splurge stays, we usually choose budget-friendly Airbnbs or business hotels. However, we generally opt not to showcase these, considering their lack of uniqueness and the abundance of similar options.

Just paid a visit to Takayama - very disappointed 😢 I cannot believe how many tourists can be packed in the narrow street of the old town. The video could be shot during the Covid era. You will never get the peaceful setting in today’s world. Nothing is beautiful when the street is like packed sardines. Imagine you have to rub shoulders with others to do sake tasting and when you smell hida beef skewers all the time but couldn’t identify where is the end of the line. Thank god we only had one night in Takyama. Kamikochi and Shinhotaka are much more interesting. Btw, it was a weekday and in early November.

Yes, Takayama (and Japan in general) has boomed like crazy after the borders reopened. Takayama old town is indeed the most visited spot, but there are still hidden gems to be seen in the city. Glad you could enjoy the surrounding areas at least :) This video was shot in January this year (2023) by the way 🌱

what is the name of this ryokan at Lake Toya that you stayed? Which room number should I reserve to get the view?
@miwa-kyoto Жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth, and thank you for the comment 🌱 The ryokan name is "The Lake Suite Ko No Sumika". All their rooms have lake view, but the "terrace" rooms have the best views (2nd floor and up), especially the "corner terrace" rooms. The "garden terrace" rooms are only on the 1st floor. You should also get a room with "open-air hot spring bath" (onsen) for the best experience. Be aware that the rooms have slightly different names depending on the booking site. Good luck!

Yes, depending on the dates it can be difficult to book. A room like this should be around 35,000 JPY (250 USD) per person per night (so about 500 USD per night for 2 people). Note that it probably won't show up if you only search for 1 person.
