Layne’s voice, his lyrics, harmonies he’d just come up with Jerry said on the spot and get everything in one take were absolutely impressive and unheard of today, everything is so easy now with protools and auto tune, Layne was shy AF and had to get into character before a show to work up not being his sensitive/sweet self, and get ready to roar and not let it bother him when people randomly threw crap at him, told him he sucks, flipped him off. He had one of the most beautiful voices we will ever hear, just wish he’d stayed away from smoking rock. But this band was SO UNDERRATED, nutshell can still bring me to tears if I’m having a bad day. I absolutely hate the years of suffering he went through alone, his death was neither quick nor easy, I hate it what Rolling Stone did to him on that cover, that was the beginning of the end of him not trusting anyone, hating being judged, he was on so many sick, disgusting internet celebrity “death betting” I remember being a kid and people wanting to collect if it was Layne or Scott first. Sick people.

Not a bad show at all! Has anyone else ever found it funny that at shows even when Layne had dreads he bangs sideways from left to right? I have never seen this technique before and the rest of the bad headbang the more traditional way of back to front? I’ve seen them live 3 times and he’s it’s so obvious its hysterical 😂 But was all his own I suspect. I just think he looked so fine with the dreads but he started losing his hair at an earlier than age!

I loved AIC and Layne, my dad took me to see em at 9, my first concert, I was blown away by his vocals, I’ll describe them as Chris Cornell said “He’s so talented he just sounds like an angry angel!” There’s something amazing when a band sounds better live than recorded. This wasn’t a good show, Layne looks tired, he has so much vocal fry and isn’t singing some lines. But this band was so underrated. I saw them 3 times, and two were amazing, Layne had so much interaction with the crowd, he seemed very polite, and it was quite funny, I was afraid he was going to keep the sunglasses and ugly leather coat on, and gloves but nah he started stripping layers off til he was just in his jeans. It was a very bad 3rd and final time, he was out of it, did the “staley squat” with the sunglasses on the entire time, there was no interaction, he seemed to be not there and his voice was weak. Layne started off as such an amazing frontman and genuinely sweet human being, I really was hoping he’d make it💔

That voice just always still gets me, when he was belting out “Would?” live and it sounds just as good or as better as the CD, it gives you the sads 😢 I’ve always loved how he leans backward to get that FULL power from the chest voice out, most singers just do the face “head voice” aka falsetto!

I don’t know if you’re the original poster of this video, but I was at this show and have photographs. I was opposite side of the upper deck of this angle of the video. I was 15 years old when I saw this but I would love to share the photos with the original poster of this video.

i saw them on this tour, when they played the Cleveland Agora. They were really really good. Layne was more mobile. I talked with Jerry during a break and bummed a cig off him. Super nice dudes.
