They are a blast and like most mechanice, I love making something dead come back to life... :-) Seems like you are on your way. Keep it up! There is a huge need for low cost outboards these ddays. Not everyone can afford 120thousand dollars for a fishing or bass boat. Crazy ....
@sacratboatingandfishing10 күн бұрын
@@daddski1 Thanks man, it’s definitely satisfying taking something broken and fixing it. I agree with the need for low cost outboards. It seems like a lot of mechanic shops don’t want to touch the older smaller outboards just want more profit from the newer bigger motors
@daddski110 күн бұрын
One thing I would suggest you always do BEFORE YOU START THEM. Pull the lower and change or inspect the water pump impeller. The Honda is the perfect example. If it is old and cracking, starting will finish breaking off fins. The Honda 20 fin is missing, you HAVE TO FIND IT. The fins end up in the engine somewhere blocking water flow. You will still get good tell tale flow at times but somewhere there is now a blockage and you may have been the cause, or someone before you did it. Who knows, but it is always imperative you find it because it will kill your engine sooner or later. The easiest way to not have it happen is simply do that first, before you start it up. Make sense?

Did you have a cover or partial cover over your intake? I have the same carb/motor and I'm dealing with it running way to lean with liquid gas pouring out of the intake. Pretty sure it's a clogged jet, even though I cleaned it thoroughly. If I put my hand over the intake I can get it to idle. Taking my hand off, it stalls out.
@sacratboatingandfishing22 күн бұрын
@@Jasonr64 Mine didn’t have a cover. Leaking gas sounds like the float might be sticking. I’d check your float height, inspect the needle, make sure the needle is seated properly. Also sounds like your air mixture screw could potentially need adjustment
