I just got a pearl river. While I’m extremely grateful for it and got it primarily because it was affordable it does not feel good 😢. The keys are super stiff and mine is out of tune from moving it of course.

I’m in the market for a brand new Yamaha GC1, Kawai GL30 or possibly this. I negotiated the brand new Yamaha GC1 to $19,000 usd and the Kawai GL30 to $21,000 usd. Both brand new! But I happened to play this Kayserburg KA160 and they had it marked for 29 grand. He asked me if I would take it home for 21 grand. I’m thinking about it. This piano has that German sound. Which would you choose from the above options?
@benedictdsilva39542 ай бұрын
Yes I agree ..GL is so so.. GC wouldn't be better. Kayserburg artist series has Renner action and hammers I think..it's more expensive in India too

@ I ended up getting a brand new Kawai GL40 for the warmer time and better bass. Now I’m looking at Kawai CA901 for silent play

@@gustavogo2915I’ve had it for about 6-7 months, it took a month or two to “play in” as it was brand new but it’s playing well now - for the price it’s extremely good, obviously it’s not a Yamaha or Steinway as it’s a fraction of the cost and if you can afford one of those they would be better (I mean the Japanese Yamahas, not the ones made outside of Japan). I bought the Kayserburg as a second piano for practising while I’m abroad and it does everything I want it to.
@gustavogo291511 ай бұрын
@@tompianohotmail very nice. Thank you for answering. I have a deposit on a brand new Kawai GL30 but been also looking at new Yamaha GC1s and happened to play a Kayserburg KA160. I really enjoyed the sound and wondering if I should just go with the Yamaha GC1 instead as it is much cheaper and built in Japan. The Kayserburg KA160 had a fuller tone
@tompianohotmail11 ай бұрын
@@gustavogo2915if you have access to a good technician then it doesn’t really matter whether you go with the Kawai or the Yamaha from a “keyboard feel” as they can set it up for you and get the best out of either piano. Voicing can also be adjusted to tailor the sound for the room. I have a Steinway and a Yamaha in the UK, and at the moment the Yamaha sounds and feels better than the Steinway as it has just had a complete mechanical service, so the technician can make worlds of difference. The only thing is the Kawai GL30 is a bit longer than the Yamaha so the overall sound quality and depth will be greater, so that’s something to bear in mind (remember an extra few cm of length means quite an increase in the overall soundboard area and total sting length). But if you want to save money the GC1 is a good piano…

The sound that we hear in this video is a sample and not the real sound of this piano. The question is, if the piano sound wonderful is, why you change that with a sample sound? (And please do not tell us that the piano sound not a sample sound is!)

@@claudiasouza3104 Ah, I don't know. It's sometimes hard to tell. Do you know roughly how old the piano is? They haven't been made in the Czech Republic for several decades now, and in fact the Czech version has nothing to do with the German version they're completely different.

Sounds nice enough now, but you don't want to hear it in 40 years. Real professional pianos are made with time-tested materials and with hand crafted processes. Lothar Thomma has tried to line his pocket lending his name to this.
@markali882 жыл бұрын
Happy owner of a Kayserburg uh132. It’s an amazing piano that sounds better with age as far as I can tell. I think mine is turning ten soon. I guess in 30 years if I’m still around I can reply to this lol

ok show me a 40 year old kayserburg with the same kind of maintenance as you would a 40 year old steinway. you can't right? so you're comment is based on...assumptions with zero evidence what so ever, if you can claim something without evidence it can be refuted without evidence. soooooooo.....you're wrong.

@@OkitaNamikaze You discount the 22 years i spent being a piano technician. I've seen what can go wrong from the inside. FWIW I'm no fan of Steinway, either.

@@studentjohn35 ok then how many kayserburgs have you tuned and cleaned and repaired or even done proper research on to make such a claim ? If you haven't any then you're just using your status as pianotechnician to spread misinformation.
