This was so fun to find. I was in this production. It was quite the experience. ❤

It is a gem. We just don't do it like we did back then. Glad you liked it.

Wow! Jump, jive and boogie! What fine dancers! I thought the opening scene was on the plaza adjacent to the USS Midway in San Diego but on second look it was somewhere else (but probably within a short drive of there). Nice ending at what appears to be the Newport Beach temple. I'd love to see these two dancers perform at the World War II USO dance that is performed sometimes at Disneyland.
@NilsLindstrom Жыл бұрын
The opening scene was the Arroyo Bridge in Pasadena, CA. And you're right about the Newport Temple. Four kids later, they are still dancing.

Some notes: in the street scene following a meeting at the Los Yoses chapel in San Jose, a few people (besides Nils of course) should be noted: the tall blond elder in the upper right of one of the scenes is Don Alphin -- one of the best missionaries I ever met. Also appearing is Jorge Alfaro, a middle aged member who had a lot of influence in the Church in San Jose. I never understood why he was influential; I just knew he was important. On the far left of the scene shot in the entryway to the mission home in San Jose is Eric Schwartz who was mission secretary at that time. The country picnic scene occurred near Cartago, C.R. That's Sister Brandvold hamming it up for the camera (her companion was Sister Esplin). I remember this picnic as if it happened yesterday and it's now been almost 50 years.

Jorge Alfaro was a socialite. He knew people in high places - especially the Passport office and Customs. He made friends easily and was a great asset to the cause.

The gathering shown in the first scenes of the film was a zone conference for the Panama missionaries held at the Balboa Chapel in the Canal Zone. I wish someone would write here all the names of the missionaries who appeared in the group shot. I know that the four sister missionaries in the front row are (L to R): Shauna Peck, Sister Sandoval, Susan Bliss and Diana Branvold. Thank you Nils for posting the 8mm film.

Hi Nils, What a beautiful tribute to Virgil. He was my mothers (Jeanne Lindstrom Andersen) cousin. (She is Gus and Ethel's daughter) I see he definitely has the Lindstrom humor!! May he rest in peace or have a bit of fun in his heavenly home!!

You may want to take the ads off of your “I often go walking” video. The comments are turned off so I had to find another place to comment so I ended up here. Nothing like going to watch it with my 8yo, but first hearing an extremely inappropriate ad. 🙁

Hi Nils, I watched this Christmas concert this week! I came across it after I watched the beautiful, beautiful tribute you made for Joyce, as well as “The 7 lives of Joyce Walker”. Amazing. I’ve been triple blessed by you this week. I have always loved your influence in my life, and still... Love to both you and Lorraine, forever, Liz Marshall
