@@marthaAwodi no I am afraid, Clinical Fellow roles are for GMC registered Doctors in various specialties where resident doctors are needed to work. In my case, this was in Public Health Medicine. However, there should be some Public health related pharmacy roles as well.

The video is really in helpful. Is there any difference between the medical and non medical in terms of work description and salary?

@@hafsatmohammedahmed thanks for asking. The job is basically the same as a consultant depending on where and what portfolio you are working on. In terms of salary, medical consultants are placed on medical and dental contract while non-medical have a separate contract which stipulates their salary terms and condition. There's some ongoing work to unify the system for all public health registrars and consultants.

@@chineduibeh8036 Yes please. Full GMC registration was an essential requirement. However, there are also public health jobs where you don't need to have GMC registration.

Great job Dr Kalu. Can anyone apply for the ST1 post regardless of the years one has spent in residency training in Public health from one’s country? Also can one get higher training post like ST3 which is applicable to other specialties in the Uk. Thank you

@@Peter-p7b thanks for asking. Yes you usually would apply for ST1 post in Public health. Upgrading to a higher level is done within the deanery depending on a number factors such having completed MPH, DFPH etc. However, my experience is that it would be best to start from ST1 particularly if your experience of Public health is outside of the UK. Hope this helps.

@@smanan78 thanks for your question. This website is more like a database for job adverts and would redirect you to the recruiters website when you click on it. And yes, I know of colleagues who got sponsored Public Health jobs through job search sites such as this.

@@diplomatdiplomat2800 most colleagues prepare DFPH with Mastering Public Health. You can order your copy from Amazon. There are also registrar networks that support candidates preparing for DFPH and MFPH. Hope this helps.

Is the assessment exams for public health different from MSRA. Can I please get a list of the materials?

@@hafsatmohammedahmed Yes it is different from MSRA. The Assessment Centre tests are Situational Judgement Test, RANRA and Watson Glaser test. I have included job test prep link within the description which you may use to prepare for the assessment centre. It is a paid subscription though. Hope this has helped.

In principle, there should be an opportunity for a job with sponsorship following your MPH, however, MPH is just one of the many things employers may consider. You could opt for a workbased public health placement during your MPH to enhance your UK public health experience if you need to augment.

@@greatelement456 thanks for asking. When I did my MPH, my intention was not to work in the UK. So, I didn't look for any work then. However, I know of colleagues who recently got into public health roles following completion of MPH. These colleagues had extended work based placements during their MPH which enhanced their UK experience. Does this help?

@shilpa448, I recommend that you apply to jobs if you feel that you match the eligibility criteria regardless of whether you are undertaking a course or not, except if doing the course is essential for your getting the job.

It seems there are no entry level jobs, I mostly see consultant/specialist/senior. Is volunteering experience essential and do one need a registration with a body in the UK?

Volunteering would certainly be useful in my opinion. Also registering with a designated profession puts you at an advantage but this is not to say that one can't get a job without that particularly if this was not mentioned as part of the essential criteria. You may also watch my video on strategic volunteering, if that would help.

@Adejoke, Visa sponsorship can be offered for public health jobs at the level of public health manager. You can check UK shortage occupation list for more information.

@Ripei, people outside the UK can apply for jobs at the level of public health manager or specialist as these jobs fall under shortage occupation list. Additionally, it will be specified if candidates that would require Tier 2 visa are eligible. Finally, you may actually send email to the contact persons listed in the job advert enquiring if the job is open to all. Meanwhile, can I ask that you familiarise yourself with the UK shortage occupation list?

@Chizobam, it depends on the type of job. For instance, if you are going to practice as a public health nurse, then all those may apply, otherwise you will be clearly informed of the eligibility criteria for the job.

@Ripei, although a degree in Public Health is good, however, you must not have a degree in Public Health to apply. Public health jobs are open to all particularly if you have relevant experience and meet up with the required essential and probably the desired criteria.

@Aminu, there may be need to demonstrate your English language proficiency. The job advert would include all the essential and desirable criteria that candidates should have to be selected. I hope this helps.
