Cutting the housing out was so much more difficult than removing the Torsion bar carrier.

Did they abandon the project ? It's been 2 years, I was thinking of a 944 drift car and this was so promising.

Its possible for sure but like you said not in their garage aka skillset. Wish they would atleast upload something challenges, ideas etc. Sad to see the project die out.

What year 944 is this? im thinking about doing this to my 1985 944 P.s idk whether the engine bay space differs just wondering
@tempest4113 жыл бұрын
I think this video explains why we they haven't made any videos in eleven months...They probably came to their senses and realized they ruined a perfectly good car.
@tempest4113 жыл бұрын
This is just nuts. Adapt the engine to the torque tube, and get the trans from a 951 to handle the increased power.
@tempest4113 жыл бұрын
Why the hell did they chop up the torque tube at the back? The torque tube comes out by lowering the rear suspension. Now they've completely ruined an otherwise rebuildable torque tune.

Not gonna lie doesn't look like it fits....
@tempest4113 жыл бұрын
It doesn't. I'm not seeing why people try and swap other engines into these things. The original engines are fine, if slow. Want to go faster? For the same cost of a swap you could get a used Vette. Or, most anything else.
@sixoh_diesel56624 жыл бұрын
I'm 5 mins in and all I can do is wonder why these guys are trying to swap a 2JZ into a 944.... in their KITCHEN! I mean you even have a dishwasher. Seriously though good content!
@jamiller3794 жыл бұрын
Don’t the 944 have a transaxle? That’s why I want to build one. Cheers
@dolnick74 жыл бұрын
I'm just in the middle of doing this in order to replace my raspy pilot bearing. Took me three days to get the trans lowered. That one dang bolt left at the top of the trans just wouldn't budge. I ended up loosening the two 17mm bolts holding the support arm and used the looseness of the arm as a gauge to judge when the pressure was off the bolt holding the trans to the crossmember. Hoping to get some tips about pushing back the torque tube from your vid; it seems hella heavy for only one person. Thanks for posting.

Abort LMBO, I wish you guys luck. Too late now hhhhh. People pay 1000s of dollars to put vette IRS and transaxle for the mega traction increase and track balance benefits. You are going to have to be master fabricators to get that transmission up front. Re mount seats, dash base, console and tunnel about midway through the interior.
@curvs4me4 жыл бұрын
I thought I left a comment but maybe no. You can easily use a subi 6 Speed with two wheel drive block off plate in the back and use the bellhousing to convert to the torque tube. If you plan on building a ton of power 928 Motorsports makes a T56 Magnum conversion for the rear axle. You will have to cut the s*** out of that tunnel to get that transmission in there beyond belief. It's really not worth it go to the Boneyard and find a Subaru transmission.
