Magnus uses the London, as do other GMs and high-ranking players. Ding Liren even used it in game 6 of the World Chess Championship. It’s beginner-bait for sure, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad opening for white.

Hats off to Ding for still fighting even in the midst of the circumstance that he is going through right now. But honestly, and constructively, Ding is not in shape anymore right now. Yes you may be the "World Champ" right now, but the idea that I am always supporting is: "It is hard to reach the top. But it is much much harder to maintain your position at the top." And that's what's being displayed right now. Ding cannot maintain his status as the world champ. On the Contrary, when Magnus was the world champ, he defended his title 5x, while winning multiple tournaments, online, over the board, claiming the World Classical Champ, World Rapid Champ, World Blitz Champ , and also maintaining the highest ELO ratings in Classical, Rapid, and Blitz. That's the definition of a True World Champ, or moreover, even the true definition of "The GOAT". So it is not a disrespect to somewhat point out what Ding is currently displaying right now with his Chess playstyle. Ding is for now is like Vassyly Smyslov, achieved the world champ but he may not hold the title for long.

People should stop digging into Ding's personal life.. Every chess player goes through a rough patch. Just because it happened to Ding while he's champion doesn't mean he's exempt from being a human going through normal human things. Carlsen also had several lows between his many highs. So did Kasparov. And Caruana, and Vishy, and so forth. Everyone experiences this. We should give Ding space and let him do his thing. Whether or not he returns to form is entirely up to him. We should support him.

The problem is Ding didn’t even want to deal with being World Champion, had he not won/Magnus played vs Ian he could’ve taken a long sabbatical like Wang Hao did. He has had some illness which has also affected him through time. That being said, he’s been one of my favourite players since 2017 and I hope he deals with whatever comes in the future.
