When this happened I was assigned to the USAF 56th SPS on jeep night patrol at NKP Royal Thai AFB west of Danang, about 9 miles west of the Mekong River on the border of Thailand and Laos. The entire war was lost from the beginning. So, it's no surprise that the end was also a SNAFU. The war was lost because of politicians running things and using the army for leadership on the ground.
