Hey Negar! Just wandered across your channel. Subbed it. I was researching about this as well, by the way I have 3.5D on my both eyes. In my case as I am a Software Developer with heckload of work, I am literally 24*7 either on my laptop or phone. So I can't get rid off it. But I always switch on the Night Light to filter the blue light, I don't know how useful it is though. Right now I have 2.75D glasses, so I am going to research more and will start from next month. I am also very lazy in this thing, lol. Having skipped numerous times. Though, now I have decided I will figure it out and will give it a try. I will update you accordingly in this comment section and and as well in your upcoming videos. By the way, do you think -2.75D glasses would be fine to start as I have -3.5, heard some folks mention -0.75 would be rough on eyes and would be a waste? Have you seen Todd Becker's presentation video on this reduced lens method? If not, search it up. He says exactly the same. Do update us regularly about your recent findings and tips.

Good Video. One Tip that I want to throw out, since we are getting into winter here in the northern hemisphere. Natural sunlight is important. So you will probably notice a slow down in your results over the winter. I personally get most of my reductions outside the window of Nov-Feb. Even living in the southern part of the US and doing lots of outside activities in the winter, the light levels are just too low and the days are too short to get the same reductions. So if you are new and seeing this, just understand. Keep up the good work and you will be rewarded when the light levels go back up. A second tip, if you are starting or doing an equalizing step (monocular drop), is to use a brock string (you can make one for under a dollar --- the size of the beads don't matter much). Even if you "pass" the test that you are seeing both strings, the exercise really does help keep eye dominance in line during those more difficult sets (even if you just do it for 2-min a couple times a week). I didn't do it for almost the first year. I started having trouble with one eye not catching up to the other (I have a very complicated visual plan because of how my astigmatism presents). Though this might be much slower than something as extreme as patching, it is something that won't have a negative side-effect.
@NotNearsighted15 күн бұрын
Thanks for your tips and the comment! yup winter can slow things down a bit but I agree that warmer months speed things up. I haven't equalized yet so I will definitely look into this once I get there!

I have a laminated ruler taped on my desk at home to help me know where my monitors should be. I have it set up to go from 25 cm to 0. Zero is the furthest back my desk will allow. I'm at 18 at the moment, and 14 was my best a couple days ago. The trouble is the natural light coming through the window changes based on weather. It would be nice if I could have consistent light every day so I would know what is improvement and what is just better lighting. This eyesight improvement stuff is tricky because it's up and down every day with the goal of getting better in the long run.

@mayiss555Ай бұрын
thats great!! would you mind if i ask, do u measure without glasses on?
@Ben-pk4cvАй бұрын
@@mayiss555 I have too much to say =) I have measured in the past without lenses on. The rulers I make for computer monitor distance don't really replace measuring centimeters. The nice thing is I don't have to take time out to measure centimeters, but I was thinking I should do that once a week. It is less accurate just going by the monitor rulers since they are affected more by the natural light coming through my window etc. (Maybe for people around -10.00 diopters and up this is an accurate enough option. I doubt they can get accurate centimeter measurements without lenses on. It's already difficult for me at -6.50) I have felt in the past that measuring centimeters in the morning was hard on my eyes but maybe this would not be a problem if I am doing well with good eyesight habits. I've tried off and on for over 4 years, been busy with life, and too much screen time. I'd recommend people commit fully to this process because trying and failing too much becomes discouraging and it is easier just to give up. My eyesight has been the same for about 5 years of optometrist visits since using differentials so I'm definitely happy and grateful about that! I'm glad I'm not wearing -8.00! I did figure out how to measure with differential lenses on. It is more comfortable and I think it is more accurate. I would recommend this for people close to -7.00 or higher where the numbers get lower than about 20 cm. I'm about -6.50. I built my own tools that have one ruler on top of the other for both no lens measurements and differential lens measurements. I used cardboard to create a tunnel to hold the top ruler allowing it to slide and taped text on the end. Maybe there's a way to convert the differential numbers from the differential measurement to what it would be without lenses. I just thought of this! Now how to calculate? Hmmm... I need help from a math geek... I can always add this to my eyesight to do list. Maybe I can find a way to convert from differential measurement to no lenses measurement. If it's possible, maybe it's in Jake's Forums somewhere. If I ever figured it out, I would share that information for sure. Are you trying to improve your eyesight? Have you had any improvements yet?
@Ben-pk4cvАй бұрын
@@mayiss555 I managed to come up with the way to calculate Centimeters without lenses even if you measure while wearing differentials. Here's the equation for anyone who measures while *wearing differentials:* *100 Divided by (100/CM - Differentials)* Example: Measured 60cm wearing -5.50 Differentials 100 divided by (100/60 minus -5.50) 100 divided by (1.67 + 5.50) 100 divided by (7.17) _100/7.17 = _*_13.95 CM_*

@joshuab738Ай бұрын
Nice video. Astigmatism reductions are rough! I came from high astigmatism (and high myopia) and I can tell you that I have done a lot of different methods for reduction of cyl depending on my eyes at the time. Sometimes doing the .25 in the diff and after the norms works (though you get a different kind of blur --- more of a haze). I always keep my diffs with less astigmatism than my norms because my eyes "feel" better --- always listen to your eyes. Sometimes it just makes sense to trade it for more sph (.5cyl for .25sph). The choice of the way really seems to depend on how your eyes are depending on it at the time. Just because you have -.5 cyl in both eyes, does not mean that it affects both eyes the same way --- it all depends on your eyes and the axis. This is why astigmatism is hard. The best way I have found to make this observation is to get a pair of stronger sph corrections and no cyl (or use a len kit) to decide how much my eye is depending on the correction at that time. Using that, I can kind of make a better assessment on what method to use. Your observation that astigmatism goes away [ basciliy with sph reduction] is correct. There are some papers that show a correlation with the need for astigmatism and sph diopters. (Note that there are people that really do need it though). However, I was cautioned by someone to not bank on this and make sure to get rid of the astigmatism if you are getting into low sph as you might start to train your eye to need it more than you do. I got some floater at the start but discovered it was just me pushing active focus too much. After reducing that and getting time in "pure" dark, they went away. I get transient astigmatism too. Again, it is normally me pushing too much or reducing too fast. This is just my eyes telling me to slow down a little until my brain catches up (again, listen to your eyes).
@NotNearsightedАй бұрын
Hi there! Thanks for the insight! I think astigmatism is definitely something I haven't looked into or experimented with very much so I will definitely take these recommendations when the time comes. I think next time I might try increasing the SPH while getting rid of the CYL to see if that helps because last time I reduced both and I don't think it helped.
