I always kinda chuckle when announcers reference a tarp on a car. The only reason a tarp gets put on a car is to cover blood. That's standard protocol at every racetrack in the country.

Madness- It was too much speed and danger. Sometimes, when we are lucky, nothing serious happens. On that day: it happended. as at : Imola 94' (F1), Fontana 99' (CART), Daytona 01' (Nascar) and Vegas 11'... It was just a really bad day... RIP Dan

This crash was perhaps was one of the worst ones in all of IndyCar history. You can tell in Marty Reid’s voice when they returned from commercial break that something was not right.

I still remember actively avoiding watching this and watching football instead because after seeing some of the practice quotes from drivers and the fact the car count was huge, that this was inevitable. I think I switched over and saw Red Flag an d knew something bad just happened. Not happy my fear was right.

Ed Carpenter probably had memories of the crash that took the life of Paul Dana in 2006 after this. Rest Easy Dan. ❤ Edit: The reason why I bring this crash up is because Paul Dana slammed into Ed Carpenter at 175mph that day at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"Many people ask me why I always sign off, ''Til we meet again.' Because goodbye is always so final... goodbye, Dan Wheldon." Marty Reid rightly deserved some of the heat he caught, but that cuts like a knife even all these years later.

Marty Reid is a legend for saying that.

what did Marty do
@VB_Roc6888 ай бұрын
@@Thegod_of_memes It wasn't one thing in particular. Botch after botch on NASCAR play by play -- saying Blaney won a lap before he actually did, continuously saying lap 13 when it was actually lap 11 here, forgetting Andy Petree's name, and that God-awful "nail in the final coffins" call of Jimmie's 5th title. But that said, nobody is better in the booth at a moment of crisis than Marty Reid. Which is a shame that it's something you have to be good at.
