What is it with auctioneers these days that pretend they have a bid and start going up in price only to back it back down and take a lower actual bid from somebody in the audience? This seems very shady to me.

It's called "setting it in" the start price. When they are not sure of the best price. It is easier to start high and go down than start too low and have to take bids back up. Most have "pushed" an item to get a fair price. They are working for the seller!

it was like a auction i was just at. they had 4 ring guys ALL standing together and all yelling when some one bid. the auctioneer heard all those yells and had to start over on over 10 pieces of equipment. on a tractor it was funny. the guy who wanted it was sick of the ring guys walked right up next to the auctioneer and bid. wouldnt you know it 2 ring guys tried to get in between and YELL every time he bid. the guy finally yelled back and said i KNOW how to yell i DONT need you guys. things calmed down after that. ha ha

i would have been bidding on the one with the turbo/cat conv. in and the one that was only a dollar, you had more than that just in copper wire in the extension cord you could see but then i am a scrapper too besides a flipper so junky cheap units are up my alley

wow some of that stuff went dirt cheap, that truck was great deal! a radial arm saw is the most expensive tool that you will never get anything for them. If you need one you wont find a used one. I would have grabbed all that wire!
