Super explanations! Thank you. Also funny hearing you laugh evert now and again. :-)

Hmm, I think it must depend on the drum you have. I can't really get good resonances using my hands on my drum
@nicholaspennmusic8 күн бұрын
It definitely makes a difference. Some tongue drums have really narrow tongues and it’s wayyy harder to play with your hands

Thank you for the nice video! I feel that when i play with mallets - i have to hit the edge of the tongue and when i play by hands- i have to hit at the base of the tongue. Is that correct?

Day 3 of learning tounge drum, my improv on the instrument has improved drastically just from watching 2 of your videos as well as learning the penatonic scale I think its called. I have a 15 note drum, but its easy enough to translate your lessons on to my drum, thanks so much!!

I really love how you take your instrument as it is and use it as what it is instead explaining how "music" has to work. Thank you for that!
@nicholaspennmusic10 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I think learning music before learning to just play around is a backward approach. Music is a language, and when we start learning language as kids we're able to speak and form sentences before we ever learn a thing about grammar in school. It should be the same with music me thinks.

Also depends on where ur drum has the most resonance on the tongues, mine are unfortunately right near the end of the cuts 😅 but yeah it's about learning and connecting with your drum as well. My middle tongue has the best sound coming from the edge of the right (which is so bloody weird but it's true). Love this video!!!

Yes, they are all on my channel in order from start to finish. These are a series I made when I was a business partner in manastone drums. Originally they were for customers only, but since I left the company I released the videos on this channel for everyone else. Hope you enjoy!
