I came here because we just lost three fallen soldiers in Jordan. All three are from Atlanta Georgia. President Biden 🇺🇲 will be going to Dover for the interception of their remains. To the fallen soldiers families - May God grant you peace as your love ones have given the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our country. 🇺🇲🙏

As this is from a movie called "Taking Chance," all the video was about one person, but it honors the sacrifices made by all soldiers of all races and nationalities.

I wrote a spoken word poem about my time as a Mortuary Affairs Specialist in the Army. Within my job, we assisted with the autopsies of fallen soldiers, processed their personal effects in preparation to return them to the families, and performed funeral services. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHa3fYl6fdx_mK8

a couple years ago i sat next to African American soldier in Hawaii, at the Polynesian Cultural Center, lovely guy. his wife was also present, i went and got them ice creams from the buffet, thanked him for his service ... and im an Australian, from Adelaide.. because in reality , Australia would be so easy to overrun by our northern neighbours, if not for the consequences of such an action from the U.S.A. im forever grateful... some people forget that on D-Day , 75% of the invading forces were made up of Americans, thousands died, it wasnt even their war for Christs Sake

Small (possibly large error) it was everyone’s war, if the world had allowed any action to go unchecked neither Hitler or the Emperor would have stopped, the USA, Australia, India would today be speaking ‘Facist’ and never allowed to do what we are doing right now. NEVER forget that NEVER forget that we wouldn’t have a single Jew, Gypsy, Romany, Homosexual or disable person, alive ANYWHERE! It was ALL our fight and it took all of us to win.

Never knew him. but after all these years he is honored and remembered for his sacrifice by myself, my sister, grandaughter and son's. May all those American soldiers be remembered as well. it is all that we can do to thank them. Bless them all.

First and foremost, I do not want to minimize or discredit those who have given their lives, or to those that have attended to their remains, in any or all conflicts. I myself lost close friends in the Viet Nam war. However, I have a personal take on what really took place in the 1966-1970 years at Dover Air Force Base where I was stationed. It was before the current mortuary was finished. The then facility was next to the base "hobby" shop, where woodworkers made things, and I washed and changed oil on my 1964 GTO. The mortuary was right next door, and the sights and smells I still recall. In those years 200-300- deaths or more per week were not uncommon. The system was overloaded. "K" loaders were filled with the shipping caskets of fallen soldiers, unloaded from the then new C-141s. There was no honor guards, no ceremony, no fanfare, and certainly no photographers/press. Space was utilized in an aircraft "C-133 nose bay dock" to process the overflow, draped with canvas supported with cables. The 141s would leave for a SEA (South East Asia) run and come full with the pallets full of remains, 4X4 sixteen to a pallet. Times have certainly changed, and definitely for the better. All should honor and respect the fallen young, and old men who have served, not because they believed in political lies or ideology but because they felt they should, like the ones before them. But never forget, the disrespect shown those many thousands that fell so long ago. May they all rest well, having paid the ultimate price.

@@daveenyart Dave thank you for your comments, in truth I cannot recall why I was so motivated. Maybe I had watched something else and the two caused my gander to rise. I do genuinely feel that we do need to take care when folk who are connected may still be alive. We must however we must also publish such pieces as we do need to know. So I am very sorry but I don’t know where it should be posted, but it must be posted somewhere. Kindest Bob

You talk to any of the people at Dover, and they will tell you that whatever job they are doing, from the embalmers, all the way to the ones getting the uniforms perfect, are doing their part to help provide closure for the families. Most actually look forward to going on duty to do their jobs. They do it because they care.
