I also have an X3 but my footage looks nowhere near as good as this. How do you do it? When I export, max res is 1080/30fps. I guess you're not using 360 mode?
@freshturns_snowboarding24 күн бұрын
When you go to your export function the default mode is 1080p, but you can choose the custom settings option to export it to 4k. I also use the Insta360 Studio app for desktop on my PC for most of the clips rather than using my phone; it's not supposed to make a difference but I feel like the bit rate comes out better that way.
@FourT6and2224 күн бұрын
@@freshturns_snowboarding And you're using 360 mode and reframing later? Because the camera is not supposed to be capable of doing that... Max resolution in 360 mode is 4K. But once you reframe and export, 1080p is the max... What mode were you recording in? Are you upsampling somehow?

Beats over wind noise for sure - especially when zooming like that! It's always worth the extra effort to time a jump with beat drop, too. I spend a lot of time up there so it's cool to see you shred it!

How do people not collide in those trees?
@freshturns_snowboarding6 ай бұрын
These are black diamond/double black trees in this video so the traffic is pretty low. I've had collisions in green/blue tree runs before (I posted a video with one in it - "I snapped my GoPro right off") but that's usually due to laziness or other factors that are more controllable than your line of sight. When it comes to not hitting trees, either hope and pray, or try to memorize them. I've got Big White's glades pretty much memorized turn for turn but once in a while I'm in unfamiliar territory and take a bad wrong turn - those clips just usually don't make the final cut 😂
@hahaok_6 ай бұрын
great footage, might want to mute the wind noise while you are going
@freshturns_snowboarding6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! I use the wind noise filter with my GoPro but since this was my buddy's Insta360 X3, I didn't mess around with any of his settings. My X3 arrives in a couple days and I'm definitely going to make sure we're getting as little wind noise as possible from it!

There was a really good snowfall today and last night actually that has the mountain looking really good. I'd say BW's standards for "good" conditions are on the higher side for North America; meaning, they typically don't open terrain until it's basically pristine, whereas many smaller hills would be totally comfortable opening runs that have their fair share of rock and tree hazards. This year was a bit of a shock for locals - people joke that we experienced East Coast conditions for the first time here - because it was so unusual to see open runs in such poor condition, even if that condition is pretty acceptable at many smaller hills... If that makes sense? The flip side of that is that with such intermittent snow, the high traffic areas of the mountain have been worn down worse than they usually would be for this (110cm-ish) snow base. I'd take some time getting to know the mountain and using the map in good conditions because if you can figure out how to navigate in the fog then you can make the most out of pow days. A few other things: - Cold snaps are common in January here but the air and snow is quite dry so it's still possible to ride if you layer up properly. Usually BW is around -7°C. Most people choose shells over insulated jackets because it's usually possible to run a shell over a base layer. - This video was filmed December 8-13, and the snow base has increased over 40cm since then! - The trees at BW are AMAZING. I'd stick to named glades at first, unless you're with a local, but they're great for powder and great for visibility. Have a good time :)

Big White in British Columbia! Not super steep if you're an intense freerider but it's dry fluffy desert snow and a good mountain for riding trees and side hits. One of the better terrain parks in the province too.

Great video. I love that you put the name of the runs. How do you mount the camera? It looks so stable and facing forward.
@freshturns_snowboarding9 ай бұрын
Thanks! A few different things on the angle, sorry if it's a mouthful: - GoPro Hero 11 has really good stabilization in general - Some shots (the ones that look more zoomed in) are done with the Horizon Lock setting, which is an even crazier stabilizer feature on the Hero 11 - The shots with my right arm in it use a chest mount and an elbow arm mount to get the camera facing the same direction my front shoulder is facing. It's a little nicer on your neck than the helmet mount, but it's directional so you can't use it switch without flipping it!
