I am doing research for a virtual exhibit on the history of elevators. I would love it if someone could tell me about how a lift operator works the elevator. Or how the cranks in the elevator work. Thank you!

If you live in Canada you might as well get your tower or mobile crane license in Ontario so you can receive your RED SEAL. Apparently you can't work in Ontario if you don't have your red seal ticket 😮

Just stumbled across this. Great to see Stan doing well. Have not seen him in over 34 years. Still has that big smile and easy going attitude. I worked with Stan at a hockey school way back in, I think, 1988. Much success in the future big guy!

I’m a hoist Operator and my goal is always to be respectful, helpful and efficient. My priorities are people going up and people with materials . I encourage people to use the stairs whenever possible especially when going down and when it’s busy . There are people who need the hoist and there are people who don’t . The hoist runs a lot smoother and more efficiently when people only call for the hoist when they need it .

How can I teach them to do the task properly the first time? I have an issue of wanting to do everything myself and not letting them do it. How can I get better at this?
@RMS12.2

Teach them how you would like it. Start them off with small task. Check on them and start building trust with them. You have to trust the guys you work with. If not, they have to go.
