This slowed my machine down really well, thankyou, using a crimper was a first though, that was insanity inducing, probably an 'easy when you know how, sort of thing, drove me nuts! Anyway, if you felt your ears burning, it was possibly due to me cursing you for breaking my machine, ...until I changed the plug fuse😂

Thank you for this demonstration, also having a 4411, I would like to know the type of thread and needle that you use in this video and possibly their reference. otherwise, how to configure the thread tension in case of thick leather.

This is great. This feature was built into my Sailrite industrial machine and I love sewing slowly. Now I can upgrade my basic Janome machine as well. Thank you.

The problem with this method is you are undervolting it and thus it cannot do thick fabric on low speed. The solution would be to have a motor that has less rng with a gear reduction method of some sort with full throttle and voltage.

I saw that Schmetz makes a 120/90 needle that works with T90 thread that will fit a Singer. I have a bunch of V92 thread that I have used on my Singer 6680 Heavy Duty with a Jeans needle with ok results. If the 120/90 needle fits my machine shouldn't I theoretically be able to use the V92 thread, if you are saying what limits you to V69 is the needle size of 110/18? I would really like to use the thread I have on hand. I learned more in your video than anything I have seen to date. Thanks for sharing! ps...I have a Granny Wheel on the way, too!

Hi Granny Wheels, I have a singer 834 and the foot pedal has a carbon disk rheostat, not a circuit board that you show. One terminal has a long flat plate type connector and the other a regular female connector. Can this setup be modified with yours?

The Sailrite is not an industrial machine. It is a portable heavy duty machine with a walking foot. It's all about the punch power from the motor.

@@nikkicovington6090 it looks a little like a horse shoe shaped circle, it has a small rectangular hole in the centre, you use a small flat head screwdriver to turn to the left, and it can slow down the machine a bit, but it also takes longer for the machine to kick in, so you put more pressure on the pedal to get it going, it also isn't the best fix because the stupid think is still too fast imo, but it does slow it a bit. The method in this video slows it down even better. You need a crimping tool for the video method, its not too hard to work out, just as long as you are patient with yourself and keep trying, it took me about 10 tries with the crimping tool to figure it out, (I've never used one before) there are videos on youtube that spell it out for you.) good luck😊

You can open the foot pedal of the singer. Inside in the corner, there is a speed adjuster. A circled thingy which you can adjust with a tiny screwdriver. This should help a lot.

Thanks for the comparison. As a furniture maker and applying Arborite to plywood for counter tops, when I used contact cement the label instructions were to let both sides dry until they are not tacky to the touch before placing the pieces together. And the strength of the bond is also according to the pressure of the join at time of contact. Which is relevant to this video. A smoother, more even coating on both sides and high pressure at the bond would make the leather extremely difficult to peel off.

The sailrite is not an industrial machine. Even sailrite calls it a heavy duty sewing machine. For a sewing machine to be called industrial there are parameters that have to be met that the sailrite machine doesn’t even come close to. Now the sailrite fabricator is an industrial sewing machine, but the LS1 and the LZ1 are just heavy duty.
@rosemaryabbott1020

If they are just heavy duty then why the $1000 price tag?
@gmcxm211
@gmcxm211 3 ай бұрын
Industrial sewing machine - can sew continuously without stopping Heavy duty - has a more powerful motor than sewing machines of the same size and will have better quality parts. But the motor will have a duty cycle of 1 hour of "continuous" sewing with a 20 minute cooling period. Don't let this video confuse you, this is not an accurate comparison. The Sailrite machine is designed to sew and repair sails and is a walking foot machine. Whereas the Singer HD is designed to do home domestic sewing projects, sewing denim jackets would be the max for this machine since it has a 1 amp motor. The Singer HD is comparable to the sewing machines that were made back in the 1960's and 70's. The all metal frame sewing machines, but all those machines came with a 0.3 to 0.5 amp motor. Where the Singer HD gets the rating of "heavy duty", it comes with a 1 amp motor, with everything thing else reaming the same. So think of the Singer HD as a vintage sewing machine but with a 1 amp motor. Now let's compare the portable "walking foot" machines that start out around $370.00. Why the $1,000 price tag for the Sailrite machines. These Sailrite machines have a thicker casting, and the parts on the inside are cast with a steal alloy instead of the cheaper cast iron parts. Now the Sailrite machines are assembled to use aboard sailboats and yachts. They come with everything you need to start sewing. You don't have to buy any accessories, just buy thread and needles and start sewing. It also comes with a lifetime warranty if any part should break. The cheaper portable walking foot machines don't come with any accessories and some of the parts inside need to be upgraded. So when it all said and done for how much money you'll need to spend upgrading the cheaper walking foot machine to match the Sailrite machines, the price will end up being the same.

I hate my Singer HDuty 4452. I used it gleefully about 3x, and then something went wrong and now it wont sew through thin cotton. I bought an 120 year old Singer treadle machine to use instead I was so upset. The HD4452 just sits and I am thinking of selling it strongly. However, watching you here is kind of mind blowing. I may have to relook at why my Machine went out. Any advice is welcome Sir.

@@silversprout4586 Thank you. It turns out you are right. I did just that about a week ago, and it works beautifully now, just like the one in this video. I'll admit to feeling extremely fearful, and actually sweating from the process. Turns out its a lot simpler that the scary picture I had created in my mind. I hope that encourages someone else, who like me was intimidated. I also oiled the machine properly and now it runs 80% quieter than when I got it new. I'll still be selling it, as in the last week, I decided to rehab (completely disassemble) a 1903 Singer 27-4 treadle machine, on the back of the success of the HD4452), and though its been a LOT of work, the machine literally.... sings. Its so much quieter and respectable to me than the new machines. So, while its fixed, it will be for sale soon :) Thanks for commenting!
