Is there a book I need to read before Catwoman? You talked about Catwoman background but I’m not familiar with that. I’ve only seen the movies where Catwoman is a character. I love Sarah J. Maas! Should I read these books in order?

I’ve seen the Rosie Project books on your shelves for years and always assumed you’d read and liked them enough to keep. Whew, I reeeally disliked them too and never got the hype - faith restored! lol Have a great weekend!

Tommy Orange. Also, Never Whistle at Night by indigenous writers. It’s an indigenous dark fiction anthology
@60sbaby70sgirlКүн бұрын
I agree with Tommy Orange that has already been mentioned here in the comments. I also recommend The Seed Keeper by Diane Wilson. I also want to mention Louise Erdrich and Marcie Rendon.

Hi Sarah Did you make those letters that spell out “read” on your shelf?

Hi! My friend Amanda made that for me. It features four of my favorite books.

I was able to attend a library event to hear the author of The Firekeepers Daughter. So interesting. ❤. She also recommended Tommy Orange books as authentic culture reads.

Highly recommend getting to Warrior Girl Unearthed when you can. It takes place ten years after firekeepers daughter and I think it was even better. Infuriating for sure but so worth the read. I just got book 2 (after Shutter)by Ramona Emerson and I can't wait. Same forensic photographer from Shutter, this time dealing with the ghosts of a serial killer.

VenCo by Cherie Dimaline is super fun! It’s pitched as an indigenous witchy golden girls road trip 😅 There is an audiobook, but I wish I’d read it physically. If you enjoyed Nickel Boys, I’d suggest Five Little Indians by Michelle Good. It follows five indigenous Canadians who were taken from their homes to Indian Residential Schools. Some of the storylines are very dark, so check trigger warnings!

Emily Wilde is a very different cozy fantasy than the ones you mentioned. First of all it's journal entries (which is sth you either love or hate) and it has more of a folklore feeling than high fantasy. So if you liked the folklore influence in The Bear and the Nightingale f.ex. you will enjoy this one. Also: The very secret society... is also cozy. Just in case you expect a darker theme. This is def focussing more on the found family trope and cozy magic/romance. But i loved it! Hope you do too

Also can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the Grady Hendrix book. Ohhhh, and graveyard shift too! Love ML Rio! Emily Wilde I did enjoy, I hope you will also. The library book is very good. Those doubles though!!!😂 this sounds like a great tbr.

I just thrifted 218 books and spent 30 for my kids teens and adult book giveway at work. I do it because kids are on phones and iPad to much. I given away 1700 books in 8 months
@michellegleave25506 күн бұрын
But Sarah, it IS fine, because you absolutely know in your heart these books are in your wheelhouse, you know they’re keepers because of the author or the fact that they are presented so beautifully, they are not just things you bought on a whim without knowing anything about or in a genre you don’t normally love, etc. You are being strategic about what comes in. If you’d gone thrifting and bought in a large amount of books “just because” that might be different, but even then…the low prices sometimes justify the risk that they might be books you won’t love. Personally, the more I unhaul, the pickier I am about what is coming in. Favourite authors only, and the rest is from the library or on my kindle.
