The hint for the spaghetti straps is a good one. Hopefully I will remember to do this next time I have to turn something small out to the right side.

Great tips thank you. I learned what the black button is! Q. Why do you pin your pattern to the fabric your way? I’ve never seen that done on woven fabric 🦘
@AmysSewingRoom19 сағат бұрын
That’s the way I was taught. I know everyone may have a different way to pin it. I want to try fabric weights.

Great video, thank you Amy!!! I wish I had a black button, it is so much better than dealing with a hump jumper, which I use and am very grateful for, but it certainly doesn't even begin to compare to having the amazing advantages of having the black button right there for the utmost quick, precise convenience available at your fingertips when sewing bulky seams & layers😊 ... Also, I made a pincushion and filled it with Bird Grit, which sharpens birds beaks. Dipping your pins & needles into the pincushion will keep their points clean, sharpened and free of barbs. And, at times I'll swirl the pins & needles around as their points are inside the pincushion to give them an extra polished sharpness ... Thank you Amy for sharing your much appreciated sewing skills and valued expertise with us all, as we continue to learn, sew and enjoy the art of sewing together!!!
@AmysSewingRoom19 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the feedback and your pincushion tip!! I have the Bulky Seam Jumper and it works pretty good. I didn’t know that about using Bird Grit inside a pincushion. I need to try it!
@conniecopenhaver12016 сағат бұрын
@AmysSewingRoom The Bird Grit can be purchased at big box stores in their pet section and at pet stores ... Folks also use Shelled Walnuts, also found at pet stores, which is used as Lizard bedding, to fill pincushions ... The oil from the walnuts acts as a lubricant as the needle & pin points are sharpened by the walnut ground up shells ... One drawback is that some people have an NUT ALLERGY to the walnuts. So, any pincushion filled with the Shelled Walnut Lizard Bedding, should have a "Warning Label" attached to it, and/or as a sticker on the bag/wrapper if the pincushion is offered as a product or gift.

I want to see sewalong. I am very confused about the commercial pattern, I have to cut like the size of the pattern tell me or I have to add the 1 inch seam allowance?
@AmysSewingRoom19 сағат бұрын
Commercial patterns can be confusing. The pattern should include the seam allowance. I may plan a video on how to read patterns. In the meantime check out Evelyn Wood and Made to Sew for helpful KZbin videos.

I bought my kai scissors at the same site you linked. Very happy with their service. My post office accidentally sent my scissors back to them, stating incorrect address. I had to call them and ask them to resend. They were awesome.

Hi Amy. Thanks for the video. Lots of good ideas. I am going to try the Ultimate Fitting Guide book. I am looking for a good fitting guide. I have been thinking about using a sewing journal/planner. Do you use one?

@abundantlyinspiredАй бұрын
Wow you got some nice fabrics!!!🎉🎉❤ I've been nervous to order one of these because I have seen people get actual dirty garbage fabrics. 😮 Just an idea for the large floral fabric: maybe cut around some of the flowers and appliqué them onto a solid fabric.

I love that idea for the floral fabric!! Thank you. I was really happy with the fabrics I got.
