This is a very informative short video clip on such an iconic building. It's really good to see that it's finally getting restored...top stuff and great video.

No, the Maori dictionary is not a good idea to go looking for translations of the kinds Mr Lee is requesting. A simple example is the name of our city - Te Rotorua nui a Kahumatamomoe aka Rotorua. At first glance, Rotorua could mean, going by dictionaries, 'second lake', 'lake two', 'inside two', 'inside hole', 'in cave' ... . Maori terms and words often carry more than the literal translation especially names. Obviously the mayor doesn't know and that's fine. Perhaps the creators of all Maori terms and words used for council publications, can provide their intended meaning alongside the reo Maori. As an aside, it's been a shocker coming home after a relatively short time away (mind you though we were in lockdowns and all kinds of discriminatory practices when I came home to Rotorua a couple of years ago). Initially I loved hearing oft repeated Maori terms on tv and seeing and hearing te reo almost everywhere BUT ... after a while it felt more like some kind of brainwashing or divide-and-conquer type strategy. Of course, this is just my opinion and I love our reo Maori! Absolutely love it! But I don't love ramming it down people's throats. That's the best way to make an enemy. Just my opinion.

We need more than 1 leadership in this administration The government’s national sovereignty now should be respected by India china Middle East Africa America Europe and all people of the land Tangata whenua to correspond with each other’s principles and values towards a peaceful and prosperous society in which we can acknowledge each other’s rights as citizens of this lands foundation to make our country’s piller as a whole strong We need to accept that it is not our land but that of a nation which has not one or two but many nations therefore becoming native to this land New Zealand

Land, sea and foreshore belongs to the creator not Māori not Pakeha or any other ethnicities, we're all tenant's under one landlord and expected to keep the place tidy and get along with our neighbours. Māori and Pakeha caused the deaths of hundreds of others so they both have no moral ground to stand on.

Pity rotorua council is the only one not to allow public at the start of the meeting. Can that be changed ? The council wants to be transparent they should let the public be part of the meeting instead of being the only council to have it banned

I think that's one of 'Stevie's Follies'? I understand this undermining of the people of Rotorua came in under her reign. As a member of the seemingly unimportant public, if you want to present at one of their meetings you need to create a petition and gather at least 20 signatures and then deliver this to the council. They will then consider it, censor anything they don't want (it happened recently with the Lakeland Queen petition) and then give you 5 minutes to present. You will then have 5 minutes for questions from the councillors. Sometimes the Q&A has gone well over the 5 minutes (Yaaaaaay for the people of Rotorua) and at least a couple of times now, I've heard the mayor slip up by saying 5 minutes for both presentation and questions. She's been quickly questioned by her councillors so that's been helpful.

Oh and the thing they censored from the Lakeland Queen presentation? A piece of legislation. Rules from their own game book. Te Arawa Lakes Settlement Act, 2006 33 (2). I wonder why they didn't follow that piece of legislation when they kept the plane and the ripper jet boat on down at the lakefront but did everything they could to remove the Lakeland Queen ... hmmm? Shareholders in certain lake businesses? A lakefront monopoly in the making? Goooooodness knows these days!

Immanuel Kant’s most famous expression was the Categorical Imperative which was - “Act” (behave) according to the maxim that you would wish all other rational people to follow, as if it were legislation that everyone is bound by. What we all have witnessed in New Zealand is the application of power that imposes: “We the politicians (including councillors) and judges refuse to be accountable. We can lie, manipulate, enrich ourselves, be negligent, nonfeasant, destroy the country, and there's nothing you or any victims of that action can do about it.” Helen Clark once told me “People who claim the government has ‘failed them’ get accountability by how they cast their vote.” But what do our votes really get us? Clearly the nations utter failure warns us its time we rethink how we can hold politicians and judges accountable before we lose everything. Maybe we need this: The LAC In Summary ● The Leadership Accountability Court (LAC) is a design of a new court system aimed at holding politicians, judges, bureaucracy, the media, and other responsible persons accountable. ● To initiate a case, the affected party must obtain written statements from three experts who understand the problem, affirming that those in power have failed. ● Upon receiving the experts' recommendations of wrongdoing, the LAC promptly arranges a hearing, with matters being dealt within weeks. ● The court is overseen by a special judge, whose decisions are also subject to the court's jurisdiction to ensure accountability. ● The jury consists of 11 people. Jurors will be selected from a randomly generated pool from the electoral register, and shall then pass a basic assessment to qualify them for the LAC jury pool. ● The judge manages the proceedings. The judge cannot influence the jury by summarising the evidence or explaining the law in favour of one side or the other. The law is simple, and provided to all LAC juries in identical form. A simple majority of the jury ultimately decides on the balance of probabilities whether the complaint is proven or not. ● All proceedings in the LAC are conducted online using video conference technology to help deal with complaints speedily, and to limit interference in people’s daily lives. ● Individuals applying to the LAC can represent themselves, hire a lawyer, or request the court to provide legal assistance. Subject to certain reasonable limitations, the costs of complainants and RPs will be met by the State. ● If the complaint is proven, the judge issues an order for the defendant to rectify the problem within 30 days. ● LAC juries also have the power to order fines between $10,000 to $350,000 (which shall be adjusted on January 1st every year at the rate of inflation) and, where corruption results in profit, will be able to issue confiscation orders. ● Failure to comply with the order of an LAC judge may result in termination of employment or being held in contempt. ● The jury's decisions are final and cannot be appealed in another court. Non-compliance with the judge's order may lead to arrest and continued detention until compliance is achieved. ● The LAC can only hear the same complaint again if there is evidence of jury manipulation in the previous hearing. ● The LAC would be empowered to review actions and incidents spanning the past 40 years, so that the donations by bankers, lobbyists, corporations and lawyers to the major political parties, and the subsequent sale of state-owned assets to offshore interests, can be investigated. The shared mission at the LAC Project is to put an end to the culture of failure and give the people of New Zealand the opportunity to save their country by making politicians accountable. While our proposed LAC court system may not be flawless, it represents a substantial improvement compared to traditional mainstream courts that resist modification and fail to allow justice in certain types of claims that challenge control, tyranny, corruption, negligence and coverups. Positioned as a contemporary and efficient court, the LAC is prepared to develop groundbreaking approaches that will guarantee justice and will safeguard New Zealanders from the abuse of power perpetrated by politicians, judges, media, and public servants. With LAC we can test for the truth very quickly. When we get right down to it, people want honest, skilled politicians and leaders running their country. They don’t want more lies, incompetence, self interest racism and letdowns.

As one of the people who pay this "Dictators" wage I demand that I am allowed to see what discussions take place on this matter. How dare she take this to confidential, when this is very controversial to alot of the Ratepayers and Voters. I have no Confindence in this Mayor as she is hell bent on her own agenda likely before she retires.
