We have both of these plants the Split Leaf and the Miniature version of this plant. I can't remember the exact name of it, however it doesn't grow near as big. Anyhow, I have gotten thrips every once in a while, so to be fair, they can be prone to pests.

Thank you Mine throws a wilty fit every other day! I repotted it thinking it was just plain root bound. Nope, didn’t stop the wilting so been treating it for pest. Maybe it just doesn’t have enough humidity. Will try putting it in the ikea cabinet.

We have an insane North house patch outside and this match has gone crazy. One of the stalks snake 7-8' before coming to a head. That long trunk has another growth node coming out and there is a massive 5-6" trunk branch along with a few other smaller ones around the giant trunk. Trying to figure out how to cut back but propagate the sections. It is going crazy.

I just captured a 16” Texas Indigo hatchling. I’ve had it for a few days and tried offering a fuzzy mouse using tongs and it refused to eat it. I read on the internet that you can soak the f/t fuzzy in chicken broth, and then offer it to the hatchling. That didn’t work either. So, I’m going to let the Indigo chill for a few days, and then I will try offering her a fuzzy holding it with my fingers as you demonstrated in the video. I have a large table in my shop that I can try this experiment on. Hope it works? 🤞

This video is so helpful, thank you. I’ve had mine for a year and I recently repotted it and changed the soil, I am regretting it because the soil is very moist and my baby is droopy. I have to now repot to a better draining soil.

Hello. I have a few questions. With their initial enclosure can you have it "adult size" and then clutter it up or is that not recommended? If you do provide UVB would it be harmful for them? Is a diet of mice okay as well or can you also feed smaller rats for variety?
@reptiplantworks22946 ай бұрын
@luyandalamula9009 usually I've found with hatchlings in large enclosures tend to be very reclusive and fearful even if it's cluttered they hide most of the time and can be difficult with feeding versus hatchlings I've kept in tubs quickly become habituated to people and approach me for food as soon as I open the tub, I personally would wait till they are minimum 40cm ish before keeping in a display enclosure. Regarding UVB it's perfectly fine to use on them if you want to, and you can feed smaller rats instead of mice if you want to as long as it's appropriately sized.

Thanks so much for the v informative video. My homalomena is struggling this summer :( I live in no humidity, very hot temperature indoor (over 30degrees) and it is my first summer with it. I know its lacking water because the leaves are dramatically dropping, and now I am finding myself watering everyday. How would I know if I am overwatering? Do you recommend cutting the dropping leaves if they are not going back up?
@reptiplantworks22946 ай бұрын
@albamiga6509 no if you are needing to water every day ide look at repotting, it sounds like your soil isn't retaining any water or the plant has out grown the pot and there's more roots than soil, either way your soil should hold onto water for a few days, ide repott with new soil and go up one pot size.

hi i just watched your umbrella plant vid from 3 years ago and have a question . My umbrella plant seems to be drooping in my lizards tank . the stems are like leaning and some of the tips of leaves are crispy brown what would be the issue with that as i have 2 spot light leds on there as well as a biodude light bar too
@reptiplantworks22947 ай бұрын
It's honestly hard to say exactly as there are alot of factors to consider but the first thing ide look into is what spectrum your lights are putting out, most plants like a spectrum between 6500k to 7500k , because you have a few lights ide check the spectrum they are each producing isn't to high as this can burn the leaves and cause the plant to recede from the light, if your lights spectrum is fine though ide check the soil make sure it has a period where it almost fully dries out before watering again if it's wet constantly you might have root rot. I will say that sometimes umbrellas can grow kinda lop sided, I've got two I a green tree python enclosure and one insists on leaning forward for some reason. Anyways sorry for the long reply lol hope this helps.
