Those were different times. There were faaltu scripts. Men didn’t do well whereas women played eye candy and are still prevailing. Look at how Kareena chose her movies with Tusshar and God knows who else!! She was into cringe acting and yet she sustained. Men took the hit and are nowhere to be seen now. For that matter Vivek Oberoi was a good actor too but he isn’t anywhere around anymore. To say a good support can your career even if you are a mediocre actor is a reality.
