I enjoyed this video and with it being longer than usual was a delight with a cuppa a tea and a slice of cake because its the law you can’t have tea without cake 😂 thank you for you bookish chats this year and looking forward to what you share with us all in 2025. Happy new year 🎉😊

I do enjoy the unedited videos because I listen to you as I cook dinner or do some housework so it's nice to have your rambles in my ear as I do so. But, an important question: who is your favourite Doctor?
@SavidgeReads3 сағат бұрын
I’m guessing you mean Doctor Who. Hahaha. Not my favourite Doctor I’ve had in my personal life. Hehehe. It’s tough that one. I am from the Sylvester McCoy generation so I do love those. But also think David Tennant was amazing and have very much enjoyed the latest and previous. That’s such a hard question!

Just be yourself no editing it's fun to watch. I also love the idea of different content, as I really enjoyed your Amsterdam video. Wow about the fox visiting. I have 3 cats and a Beagle so not sure how they would get on with a fox in the garden ha. 😊
@SavidgeReads4 сағат бұрын
The cats would be fine. The fox is a bit scared of them. Ha. Foxes and dogs I’ve heard can struggle a bit more. I guess it’s because they’re both canines maybe?

I'm looking froward to the prompts this year, it's my first time doing them and I'm more than exited. I've decided to (at least try) to only use myTBR aka all the books I've bought but never read, and the library. Love this channel and that you share your joys in life, books, cats, foxes, your family and so on. It is a beautiful thing to do in these times when there is so much cynism around. This channel have become my go-to place for being uplifted ❤🧡💛 and for the book recommendations of course 😉

Awwww that’s such a lovely comment to get. Thank you Jennie. I hope you enjoy doing the prompts in 2025. I’m very excited for them, I have accidentally done January’s with my first book!!! Imagine.

Yes yes yes to the cat video, cat vlog, cat anything... I am obsessed with your cat adventures. I love the fox, we feed our foxes and when they take food from your hand it is an amazing feeling to have that trust from something wild (I am sure you know this but there is no rabies in the UK).
@SavidgeReads6 сағат бұрын
Ooh how lovely you feed your foxes by hand. That’s a goal. My Dr Doolittle instincts coming through. Ha. I do know about the rabies not being in the UK. Which has also been one of the most things commented on in this video and was just a joke. Lol. I’ll see what I can do about cat content.

Here's to a year of shenanigans. An Aussie book festival tour sounds great, my favourite is Byron Bay Writers Festival. As for future videos, you can't go wrong with more cat content. Also is it wrong to say I miss the rubbish truck cameos?
@SavidgeReads13 сағат бұрын
Not wrong at all. In fact I am quite shocked that no one has mentioned the bin men content before now. Hahaha. More cat content, yes. More cats, no. Lol. I would soooo love to do all the Australian book festivals. What a dream that would be.

Glad you enjoyed those. We will definitely be doing some videos around the Women’s Prize longlists but that won’t be for a while as she’s travelling. Though with her channel and mine that’s a lot of Savidge content until then.

Happy New Year, Simon, to you and Louise! I would love to see a regular feature with you in various bookstores, chatting with or interviewing bookshop owners and/or associates, on what it’s like working in their particular shops, their current or favorite books, and what they like to recommend to their clients. A revisit with Kate from Harris and Harris, and discussions with others in the book selling field, would be so interesting and entertaining, with an added bonus of bringing Louise along when your schedules allow. I know you have done this before, but more of this would be very welcome!!📚❤️❤️
@SavidgeReads13 сағат бұрын
So that bookshop idea is one I would looooove to do. Just need a travel budget 💸 hahaha. Also some willing booksellers, not everyone is as ready for some filming as Kate, who is an absolute JOY! I am hoping to go back to Harris and Harris at some point thought so that reunion collab will happen 🥳

I’m completely invested in the cats so I’d love a video dedicated to your feline friends.😺I also love your travel videos, bookshop visits, anything with that cheeky chappy Chris, and videos with the artist formerly known as your mother. I’m hoping you’ll dedicate an entire video to a cemetery tour, and speaking about your experience as a cemetery guide. A girl can dream.
@SavidgeReads13 сағат бұрын
I really, really, really want to do some cemetery content. I should do some with Tracy Chevalier really, we were both tour guides at Highgate Cemetery so would be fun for us to do something together there if possible. Plus Elizabeth Macneal’s new book is set in the world of cemeteries, I need to read it - I meant to all last year.

I love that dream!! 🤩 You going to Australia and hosting events sounds beyond fab. Especially knowing how excited that would make you. And understandably so! I also think it’s a beautiful intention to see family and friends more. And making time for other loves you have besides books. Yeah, I’m cheering you on for all of it, lol 🙌 Bookish challenges could be reading a book recommended/chosen by Chris or your mum or sister or another booktuber maybe? Even though I know reading for events or prizes are “restrictive” enough (for lack of a better word), and I’m sure you would want to read by mood once in a while. Could also be a sort of continuation of books set in paces you visit - but books you recommend as you go along and not necessarily ones you read while you’re e.g. vlogging/travelling there. Idk. I wasn’t going to give any suggestions bc it sounds like you’ve got ace ideas already - and plenty of them too! I don’t want to put any sort of pressure on you at all. But all I would wish for is that you enjoy what you do, keep giving yourself those times off you’ve loved in 2024, and have a really lovely 2025 🫶
@SavidgeReads14 сағат бұрын
I think bar reading for work or the Savidge reading prompts I may just try and read by whim with a few themed reading vlogs. I think any other challenges may be too much for me at the moment, that may change as the year goes on so I’ll bear them in mind. I had completely forgot I had asked for bookish challenges in this video, I don’t even remember it from the edits but this was an absolute swine to edit with the lighting (it took about three hours to edit) so will blame it on that!

No rabies in the UK, but probably other things you could catch from a fox!!
@SavidgeReads16 сағат бұрын
They don’t actually think I’ll get rabies, they’re just saying it to stop me. As they know it’ll start with feeding which will lead to house training and a new pet 😉

I just had an idea for a cat reading inspired challenge: Pick one book that reminds you of the personality of each cat :)
@SavidgeReads14 сағат бұрын
I’ve been asked to do this a few times and it’s tricky because they all have quite varied moods individually so it’s hard to think of books that summise them, I’ll give it some thought and hopefully a go though.

Simon, once again I am astounded by the breadth and depth of your reading, and by all of the authors you had the privilege of interviewing in 2024. Your interview with Kate Atkinson in the Newcastle cinema where you and your mom went when she was at the university is such a lovely story, made better because your mom was there with you for the interview.
