@bc4life884 жыл бұрын
Yeah so I knew it was legal size the measuring is more for people watching 😂😂😂 not that hard to judge a keeper and I usally don't keep smaller lings and there legal at 26 inch which is like 5.5-7lbs so not hard at all
@Shengrs4 жыл бұрын
Love the vid bro, love fishing out there but just a heads up it’s 26” from ear of head where the fillet starts is the legal measure, found out recently as well

@@bc4life88 what are the legal weight and size for fish to take in BC. Thanks!. As of today if they changed it.
@bc4life8816 күн бұрын
@@roadweather372 not sure about everywhere but in my area (Victoria BC) it's minimum size of 65cm or 25.6 inches we usually say 26 inches to be safe there is no size maximum.. I personally keep anything over 30 inches roughly 10lbs anything smaller is not worth it for me but to each there own
@roadweather37215 күн бұрын
@@bc4life88 Thanks man. Just caught a lingcod at breakwater last September 3, 2024 around 6:30 pm. 67 cm and it was 6.14 pounds! I'm happy, I finally caught my first fish ever. :)

What do you use? What’s you’re rig? I wanna try and catch one
@bc4life885 жыл бұрын
I use a basic drop shot rig -three-way swivel then I will attach an 18"-24" wire leader with a 9/O J hook or sometimes wire hailbut rigs then I'll add usually 30"-36" of mono(lighter than main line) from three-way swivel to my weight (4oz-8oz) then I use various Baits like whole herring whole squid octopus and leftover fish from the freezer like rockfish ect. I cast it out let it sit on the bottom tighten my line so there's no slack then wait checking it every 60-80 minutes if there's no bites

@jackmeeoff53236 жыл бұрын
Yeah I see that it happens all the time I always say to hell with the haters if it legal keep it I keep what I catch dosent matter if it's 10lbs or 45lb my preference is I release anything under 10lbs
@bc4life886 жыл бұрын
Likewise I don't keep anything under 10lbs if I can help it everyone has there own preferred size as long as it legal keeper then it's my choice what I keep my favorite are the people who watch you battle and land a nice fish then yell out you should release it like um nooo I here to catch a fish not waste money feeding them bait lol

What kind of Rig are you using?
@bc4life887 жыл бұрын
Stuart C. Fishing I used a pickerel rig that I removed one bar from. then added long bait line and had a 4oz weight to keep it down or jig it in the current basically it's a mini halibut rig lol
@marcbrulot-sawchyn29617 жыл бұрын
And do you let the herring just sit on the bottom?
@bc4life887 жыл бұрын
Marc Brulot-Sawchyn yes I just let it sit on the bottom 18-24" lead off the weight I try to set it in the current and drop it so it lands just off the kelp forest that surrounds this paticular area which does cause alot of issues and afew lost rigs lol
@stephbrulot79427 жыл бұрын
What do you use for Ling at the breakwater?
@bc4life887 жыл бұрын
Steph Brulot in this video I was using a very simple bottom rig 6oz banana weight with a 18" steel lead with a 10/0 Hook with a whole herring for bait. also works good with octopus I just cast it out and leave it checking the bait every hour or so I also jig them 5" paddletail shads or curly tail grubs they hit them good as well. buzzbombs are effective..
