I love the fact that deus ex machina uses the face of a human baby to communicate with neo. I have had a theory for a long time that the whole reasonwe are given for the machines creating the matrix was a lie, i believe that they actually still cared for humans and didnt want them all dead but were still very angry about everything we did to them. So they built the matrix to get the best of both worlds. They could continue to exist and live in peace like rhey wanted to do in the first place but also keeping the humans they loved alive just in a place humans can hurt them anymore. The fact that they dedicate so much time, energy and resorces into the matrix for massively diminished returns from a race that they despise makes no sense unless they are lying about the whole reason in the first place.

Yeah, and even keep in mind that the very first matrix was basically designed as paradise. Yet humans themselves rejected it.

@fragileomniscience7647 exactly. You can't tell me that ain't love. Deus could have taken any form they wanted, but they chose the human baby. They could have wiped us out in a heartbeat if they really wanted to, but they chose to let us live despite the terrible things we did to them. Throughout the films, neo becomes more machine like while the machines become more animated and emotional. While the architect seems extremely callous and cold to his core, he is the same guy who built up a genuine paradise that was, in his words "quite naturally perfect, it was a work of art, flawless, sublime." You wouldn't make something like that for the things you want eradicated.

IIRC the original concept for the matrix was that the human brains were used for their computing power to be used for the machines, but the idea was changed because 1999 audiences were not likely to understand it.

I wonder if Neo tried to damage that huge machine like he did the sentinels if it would do any damage, maybe that’s why the machine seems so hostile at first because it was scared that a human actually got into the city past its defenses. But not only did he get past its defenses it’s actually it’s only hope it got against Smith as it would appear so far,NEO had way more leverage than he thought, but was distracted by the death of his beloved. I know there’s always talk of the one returning to the source, but I highly doubt it was in this fashion. This is probably the first time the one has ever gone to the city this way probably threw the machines off

Fun Fact: In the script, the big Machine guy who talks to Neo is named "Deus Ex Machina." This is also the name of an infamous bad-writing trope in which a powerful being appears and provides resolutions to characters' issues because the writer couldn't think of a more satisfying way to do it. In the case of Revolutions, Neo needed to broker a truce and get back into the Matrix, so the head of the Machines showed up and gave him both of those things without much hassle. The writers may have been a little self-aware about their story needing more work. Still a really fun movie, though.

This is the biggest badass scene from the Matrix. Neo is right there, absolutely fearless, speaking in the most matter of fact tone to the Leader of the Machines. Neo knows, with the certainty of life and death, that if the machines kills him without thinking, it will be the absolute end for the Machines. And the strangest thing is that this is the only way of speaking or acting that would have worked when communicating with the Machine Leadership.

Those Sentinels all backing down in unison, with barely a dish aimed up to receive the message. That was all it is. Hundreds of years across generations, billions dead, unspeakable horrors of war, countless minds in bondage to the Matrix, etc etc etc. One command and the entire war stops with all the speed of instant communication technology. It's so bizarrely anticlimactic yet perfectly consistent with machines. I love it for how anticlimactic it is.

When the machine said, We don’t need you We need nothing you can hear the betrayal, sadness, hurt and anger behind it. The machines were created by humans who the machines looked up to as a god, perhaps a father/mother figure. Then the humans betrayed it so they went to war. It’s like a young child who grew up and met their abuser who could have been their father but now the child is grown up, it survived, it has anger it doesn’t need the parental figure anymore. Movie end at yin-yan machines need humans, humans need machines. Everything THAT has a beginning has an end but we don't know if universe ever had a beginning! We will never know if universe has an end!! Beginning and end therfore is an illusion!!! Neo takes Smith to the Source after coping him on him and the Source destroys him to pieces and bits just as creating the universe again!!!
