DOOM is still the Daddy!
@SomePlonkerFromTheUK2 ай бұрын
And Quake is the son who's sort of in the dad's shadow, but not too much, because people still like it BUT Doom got two new games in 2016 and whenever-Doom-Eternal came out, and Quake didn't, unless you count Quake Champions, which I do, so it did. Both are great games, and I'm grateful they exist

@@SomePlonkerFromTheUK I never tried Quake. Maybe I should!
@SomePlonkerFromTheUK2 ай бұрын
@@andrewbannister4515 it's made by the same people (ID Software). Most of the games were sci-fi and made aliens the baddies, but the first one was a mix of sci-fi and fantasy, with the Shub-Niggurath of Lovecraftian fame, of all things, being the main threat. The graphics are also bumped up, with actual 3d models. Considering it was made in 1996, it was pretty good, and is known for its multiplayer capabilities. In fact, this, to my knowledge, is one of the earliest examples of e-sports, as people would actually compete at a genuine venue (I think) playing multiplayer quake. In fact, this game is basically the grandparent of Team Fortress 2. The OG Team Fortress (AKA Quakeworld Team Fortress, I think. That was certainly one name for it) was a quake mod that caught the attention of Valve Corporation, who, if I'm not mistaken, hired the creators of the mod and, with Valve's help, they created Team Fortress Classic (which, in itself, was a Half Life mod), which would be proceeded by Team Fortress 2 (well, actually, technically the fanmade Half Life 2 mod Fortress Forever proceeded it, but then TF2 was finally released (after 9 years in development, no less) and stole FF's playerbase)

Never heard of this game before but it sure looks fun. Excellent video BTW 👍 😊

Thanks, man. It's a classic from the 80s. I think the one I'm playing here was the home console version, given it's Atari 2600, but it was popular on arcade machines (I've also uploaded gameplay of the arcade version, that's one of this channel's earlier videos)

fun fact: quake has optional vertical aim assist, by default it's `sv_aim 0.93` meaning it's very sligfht, 1 would be no assist and 0 would mean that looking at the seeling would still count. [that won't go for speedruns though, it can't be below 0.93]

Interesting. I was playing on PS4, so console commands didn't apply, but that's a nice fact

The Quake guy's expression always looks like he's being forced to eat actual, literal shit, and is psyching himself up for it.

Given that I'm the one controlling him, I think it's more likely he's in constant pain due to all the damage he's forced to tank 😅

That woman on vocals (Her name was Lucy) tragically died recently. I think I got to meet her at this concert and she was lovely. Boilers won't be the same without her, and I feel so lucky I got to see her perform. None of us could have known it would be her last show. At least she's safe with God now, and probably jamming with the likes of Kurt Cobain, George Harrison and Freddie Mercury. RIP ✝️✝️✝️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
