I just got back from Edgartown, MA AKA Amity Island, and still looks pretty much he same as it did back in 1975.

I need to go back and revisit this version. The 1979 version will always stand out to me as the definitive take, but this one deserves a second look.

Cool. Is the remake worth watching?
@restlessbohemian263 жыл бұрын
Yes. It's fun. It's not even remotely scary or anywhere near as good at the 79 miniseries, but its definitely worth watching. I think they handled the townsfolk a little bit better and kept Barlow closer to the book.

I love Filming Locations videos ! --- I watched Salem's Lot when it first came out and it scared the shit outta me and I was already 18 at the time. No horror movies ever scar eme except Salem's Lot. The movie was a master piece (the original 1979 version) !!

The Tobe Hooper original was quite spooky but the remake filmed in Australia not so spooky,to say the least.But,it's not all bad.Its well cast.Rob Lowe as Mears,Donald Sutherland as Straker, Samantha Mathis as Sue Norton and James Cromwell as father Donald Callahan.Not to mention the always excellent Rutger Hauer as Barlow.And,I believe it's been remade yet again! This time for the big screen.I was excited to hear this but also weary as hoopers excellent cult original was and still is such a CLASSIC! 🙂

was kurt barlow in this movie ?
@AmityIsland20085 жыл бұрын
Kurt with a K? Indeed he was. I'm glad I didn't run into him to be honest.
@restlessbohemian263 жыл бұрын
Yes, but sadly he's not a monster but a rather dull old man. While the articulate, 3D chess playing vampire worked well in the novel, it doesn't translate in to scary on screen. Barlow in the 79 film was horrifying! Straker, while well acted misses the mark as well and none of the vampire are frightening at all. Sometime even silly. I hope they can find a superior balance in how Barlow and the vampires are handled in the James Wan remake.

We're is the house located? And is the set still there.
@AmityIsland20085 жыл бұрын
Hey and thanks for your question. If you read the description, the answer is there. The original content provider no longer exists but on contacting him, he could not recall where the set was actually located but I imagine that it would have been reasonably close to Creswick.
@brendancskinner4 жыл бұрын
The house was a set built on a block of land near the Creswick cemetery. I grew up in Creswick and remember the filming, was around 14 or 15 at the time. Friends and I waited for hours until past midnight for the big bus crash filming on the main st. I remember seeing Donald Sutherland and Rob Lowe filming out the front of the old post office (1:24)

the house is outside of creswick just were i used to live. It's privately owned though so you can only look at it from the road. It's so beautiful though and has been kept in perfect condition

The old house set where the vampires lived was built on top of a hill in Mernda off Bridge Inn Rd. There is now a winery there.

Sadly, the new locations don’t have the same isolated, old town feel to it. Compared to the 1979 version.

nice video, I used to do that... when I travel to places where they have appeared in movies take pictures of the exact places and then compare them. but making video is more fun..!
