I remember talking about this on the last MK1 video you made and it's nice to see ongoing improvements. Nintendo recently acquired the studio behind this port and while they did well with Hogwarts Legacy on Switch, this game didn't quite meet the same level of quality as that port. This game as a whole feels rushed, and many agree. If it had more time, the Switch version would likely be better as it's evident that both this game and its Switch version were rushed out too quickly.

the antialiasing softening really helps the 4G gamerpro a lot, it's like a pass of softening the edges even further before upscaling, thanks for the great not going in circle video with direct footage

Do you have to set your console to a specific resolution in order to use both? ie does it go something like: PS4 set at 720p MClassic takes 720p to 1080p 4KGP takes 1080p to 4K ???

In some cases, the 4KGP doesn't like accepting the 1440p from the mClassic. It's common actually. So, you can use an edid device in between the mClassic and 4KGP. It will make the mClassic output to 1080p, which the 4KGP likes and then it will do the rest. Your console can be already at 1080p, so no need to tinker with that.

Please help. Each of these devices works flawlessly on my monitor. mC outputs as expected 1080p from switch, with the antialiassing etc. 4KGP also outputs 4k no problem, but when daisy chained i get no siganal.

First question: Which way have you lined up the adapters? The right one would be Console(Nintendo Switch) at 1080p 60Hz --> Photofast 4K --> Marseille mClassic --> TV. If this couldn't solve your problem, check the hdmi cables. Do you use the right ones and is there an HDMI adapter cable in between the Photofast 4K and the Mclassic? I wouldn't daisychain them directly to one another but only with an hdmi adapter cable in between. Let me know if this could solve your problem! PS: Have you daisychained the adapters not only in the right order but also in the right direction?

I found another loop hole. The 4k Gamer Pro is only allowed to do 60fps. There's a secret to do 120fps or 144fps on PC. The secret app you need is called Lossless Scaling. In Lossless Scaling, you don't wanna touch none of the upscaling options. You only want frame generation on. Lossless Scaling gives you frame generation. 😅 GPUs definitely don't matter anymore. Whatever fps you originally started with. Frame generation will double it. Like most games are 60fps which will transfer to 120fps. This even work on bad computers. If your game is 15fps on a Celeron. You can now play in 30fps😅 All computers can now play games with good frame rate no matter how bad it is. You can also double the frame rate watching KZbin videos or 123movies.

I have a huge tip for 720p windowed pc games merged with 4k Gamer Pro. This method is only for people who can only game in 720p. This method requires another app. This app is called Lossless Scaling. The only filter that will merge with the 4k Gamer Pro is called anime4k. You wanna keep your game in windowed mode with losses scaling filter on anime4k with medium if your PC can handle it. If not just keep it on low. 720p will scale up to 1080p. Then turn on the 4k Gamer Pro. This will look like True native 4k. Again, only anime4k will work with the 4k Gamer Pro. All the other filters will look bad because the 4k Gamer Pro is too sharp to mess with another filter. Also before you do this method, your display must always stay on 1080p 60hz. Anime4k is a miracle for 720p windowed games.

I'm sorry I keep spamming messages but I'm sharing what I've learned on the 4k Gamer on a PC that people would like to know. So I discovered on PC you don't have to press the button if you don't wanna use 4k Gamer Pro sharpness since it doesn't do anti-aliasing. In AMD GPU settings. Go to "Pixel Format". Make sure "RGB 4:4:4 Pixel Format Standard" is on. Next step, go to windows display options and turn on "HDR" and make sure your display resolution always stay on "1080p 60hz". Your display is forever 3840x2160 even tho the PC says it's 1080p. When you run a game in full screen. Your game should default to normal "1080p". Now to avoid pressing the 4k Gamer Pro button on to get 4k. All you gotta do is change "Full Screen" to "Borderless". 1080p will jump to 4k without you pressing the button. If you gamed in 720p borderless, it would also work because borderless fills the 1080p active signal. If you did 720p Full Screen it wouldn't work. Also, resolution 640x360 counts as 1080p because your TV will automatically scale 360p to 1080p. Also works with resolution 1366x768. 360p is only recommended on 2d games to play in 4k HDR😅 1366x768 is the real minimum to play 3d games in full 4k HDR 60fps. Think I covered everything on the PC side.

I'm sorry I gotta comment once again. Last time I said 900p 60fps was bare minimum. I thought wrong, 1366x768 is the real minimum on a PC. The reason??? Your TV will automatically upscale this resolution to 1080p giving you the opportunity to use the 4k Gamer Pro. Pretty much any pc can easily play games 768p. This is the smartest usage if you game on pc.

I personally think that the Switch version has been helped by the latest update but there are still performance issues that hopefully can be addressed. Load times are atrocious and I don't think that can be helped. There are still some graphical issues. Watch when Reptile does the death roll, sometimes he isn't even touching the leg of Liu Kang, lol! I'd also like to see them have the faces of the characters actually move their mouth when talking in between rounds. Maybe it's just too much to ask out of the little Switch. I guess be thankful that we have it at all! Just my two cents. What are your thoughts?

I have to comment again about the PC side of using 4k Gamer Pro or Plus. I found a loop hole for people who can't play games in 1080p 60fps. This trick is for AMD GPUs only. In AMD GPUs settings you must allow "GPU Scaling On". Otherwise only the real 1080p 60fps will work on the 4k Gamer Plus or pro. So example. If you can only get 720p 60fps. Make sure your windows display is set on 1080p with 60hz always. When you run your 720p game in full screen. It fits the 1080p perfectly. Now you can proceed to turn on the 4k Gamer. 720p is not the best but it will work. 900p and up you will see the upscale. So if can't play games at full screen native 1080p 60fps. Go to AMD settings and allow GPU Scaling to allow the 4k Gamer Plus or pro to work.

Thanks. Yep installed the latest firmware. All references to the hq2x mode I can find are to the original hardware where it says you need to enable the relaxed firmware, which I can’t find anywhere on v2). There’s a smoothing filter option “FXR”, which doesn’t really seem to do much

Unfortunately the elgato 4k60 s+ does not support 1440p but the mclassic does. I also had that same problem with the 4KGP and the elgato 4K S+, the colors come out super saturated and it looks totally unwatchable. What do you use for color correction?

I don't worry about 1440p honestly. I just do mClassic to 4KGP. As for the elgato, you're absolutely right about it jacking up the colors! My other capture device doesn't do it at all but it doesn't capture in 4K so I do have to color correct. I use Premiere and have found these settings work for me. Exposure 0.1, Contrast 25.0, Highlights 4.0, Shadows 0, White Balance 15.9, Blacks 0.4 It gets it the closest to what it's supposed to look like, give it a try and let me know how it works for you. @@thegraybeardgamer no problem. And with premiere pro the playback is color corrected but once I export it, the colors are worse than the original but davinci resolve seems to work very well. I also have the avermedia but it's not the 4k one so I can't use it with my 4k tv. I use this and the elgato solely for the standalone feature which is what I wish the new avermedia 2.1 would have (that would top all the other capture cards for a long time) the good thing about the 4k pro is that it does output into 4k resolution. The mclassic alone is great unfortunately non of my capture cards support 1440p which the mclassic can bypass. and I do notice a subtle difference. It smooths pixelated edges so I notice it when playing Mario kart Wii. Ok this was long but I do appreciate the vid. You earned a sub

Also have experience with red 4k gamer plus. Just a heads up it doesn't have 3 different settings. It has a bypass mode and 4k mode which is essentially equivalent to the first setting on the pro version

Hi there, thanks for watching. I have many consoles that all go into an 8 way hdmi switch. The output of that hdmi switch goes into the mClassic which goes to the 4KGP which then goes to my TV. Actually it goes into my capture card then to TV.

Hi, so the 4KGP on it's own gives you nothing? Or is it only when using it with the mClassic? @@thegraybeardgamer Hi and thanks for answering me. The problem is the 4kpg, whether I use it alone or coupled with mclassic I lose the signal. Before I kept it connected to the HDMI splitter on the LG television, but when I switched to Samsung it no longer works. I tried even connecting it only to the Nintendo switch and even in that case the signal disappears. Mclassic alone does not cause problems.

This breakdown was awesome. Got a sub from me and would love to see this kind of breakdown for any other consoles. I have two of those pixelfx chips for an n64 and a ps2 fat that I haven't installed yet- the pound just has not been enough for me for them (unlike the Kaico types which I think do great with the Gamecube). I was going to get the DCdigital for my dreamcast bc I had the same issue, but this really convinced me to use my mclassic and get a 4kgp instead. Saves me a few hours of delicate soldering work with time I don't have too much of these days, and the mclassic and 4kgp can be swapped into all the other consoles.

I don't own a 4k tv though but when I did I noticed the 4kGP made the outlines bolder and games sharp by itself I didn't have a hdmi extender to daisy chain the mclassic and 4KGP. I'm curious what its like when you use both of them if you can't do that test can you do sum old halo games instead

I have both but I got a 1440p monitor coming this week with both its gonna upscale 1080p to 1440p or do I need to buy something for that ?

Hi Trey, so let me address that in 2 parts. First, the mClassic takes whatever source you give it, be it a PS3, Wii, whatever and bumps it to 1440p with the addition of its graphical enhancements (anti-aliasing, smoothing, dithering, etc.). That signal would then be output to the 4KGP which ONLY accepts 1080p as its source. For some, like myself, the mClassic and 4KGP get along fine while others need to use what is called an EDID to force the output from the mClassic to 1080p and not 1440p, so the 4KGP will accept it and then upscale it further to 2160p (4K). The reason I am telling you this is that a 1440p monitor will not give you 4K, you'll need a monitor/TV that supports 4K to achieve the benefit of having the 4KGP. You can set the PS4 to 1080, it'll still do its thing. As for adding an mCable, it basically is the same thing as the mClassic, just with a built in hdmi cable. No need for it. Get yourself a 4K monitor, they're cheap these days. You'll not regret it!
