Excellent! I'm dealing with what fowl pox right now and I lost a little Polish baby a couple weeks ago with an eye issue at the time I was not familiar with coryza. I had her on antibiotics and it wasn't enough to save her. Fast forward to two other chicks that I have that ended up with the wet foul pox and I assumed it was just a foul Park in the eye I don't know how she got coryza if the foul pox caused it or something else. After many days of flushing the eye with saline and putting ointments I finally ran across these type of videos today and I literally just got the coryza out of her eye. Do you know what causes it to turn into that type of substance? And is it supposed to be greasy because mine was very greasy when it popped out of her eye. I've tried to check and make sure that there's no more left behind and she apparently is feeling a hundred times better because it's 3:00 in the morning and she just dove into her food dish and ate like she has not eaten in days. Thank you for the video
@StemCellJ3 жыл бұрын
Glad the video helped you! We also had fowl pox, not much you can do about that. Not sure why the coryza infection causes that greasy inclusion, but it helps keep it from spreading systemically. However it also prevents antibiotics from getting to the infection.

What type of Antibiotic should be given in Coryza???? Plz mention the names of Antibiotics with Substance which give exelent result in this disease.?????

We tried tylosin, a macrolide antibiotic used in veterinary medicine. However, it is necessary to remove the abscess in order for the antibiotic to be effective.

Thank you so being so brave. I have 30 chickens and this winter 3 started to sneeze . So we separated them in a different coop. The infected coop went from 3 to 8 birds now. We spoil them with alfalfa sprouts, garlic sometimes we put concoctions in their water and we don’t know how to stop this. I feel like everyone is good just going to end up in the Quarantine coop

How did your chicken turn out? Were you able to get the abscess out from behind the eyelid?
@chinchinchilly3 жыл бұрын
@@kimspangrude Yep! It was really gross but I had to make sure I got EVERYTHING out... Q-tip is recommended. Make sure you have plenty, and use a dry one each time. it helped the infection stick to the Q-tip and come out easier. Don't have to use it, just a tip. Push gently, too, when you go to get the infection out, because it definitely hurt my bird. I cleaned her eye out really well after and put her on antibiotics to be safe... If you don't have antibiotics, I'd just keep a close eye on them! If you have more questions, let me know!!

@carriebecker10974 жыл бұрын
Me to! Also they shouldn't use instruments for this. All they had to do was what they ended up doing to get it out. It'll pop right out. Hopefully there wasn't any major trauma to the poor chicken's eye. I was raised around chickens my entire life and I've see chickens with Coryza many many times, but never have I seen this done using instruments. It usually doesn't bleed like that either. You just pop it out 🤷♀️. That had to have been painful. Atleast they helped the chicken though.
@kimspangrude3 жыл бұрын
@@carriebecker1097 I think the conjuctiva of the eye had a little bit of scraping during the procedure which caused bleeding. Her eye recovered, but alas, she came down with Marek's disease later and had to be euthanized.

You didn't have to puncture anything! With Coryza you just squeeze it out. Hope she's doing better now. Poor girl, that must have been extremely painful ❤

Yes, you are correct. I initially thought I would have to lance a membrane over the exudate, but as you said, it ended up easily squeezing out. She did recover very well from the Coryza; however, she later developed some type of paralytic disease and had to be euthanized. She was the sweetest little bird; broke my heart!
