The butter should stiffen up after you pipe it and it sits for a while. It's only super soft right after you make it.

Sarah Hendriks not at all. Though unrefined has a more nutty/natural shea smell. Some may like it but some don't. You can always put essential or fragrance oil to mask the smell but it wouldn't fully go away. If you prefer not to have the natural shea smell then i suggest you go for the refined

Hi, this lotion melts on skin contact as it is a body butter. The term butter if you think about it is the reason why. Butter also melts at certain degrees. To get a buttered texture, you want to put the content in the fridge and whip with a hand mixer. My camera ran out of battery, so I was unable to show on camera that part. If it doesn't work properly and still turns to liquid, give it more time in the fridge to harden. You don't want it to harden completely.

Try putting arrow root in it so it can hold that buttery form

29msmoni :also in addition to the arrowroot you can use harder butters and less oils...

Use more butter than oil, add a hard butter in the mix and use a wax. The arrowroot powder only reduces greasiness.

So, the angle of the camera didn't show it, but I was actually squeezing to the sides of the jar. When you're doing this at home, you can do what I've done in a pastry bag and start from the middle or you can get a spatula to put it in the jar. I only went past it for the video, but I did go back and redid them as these ones were just for my family. I hope that helps

If you're following exactly like the video without mango butter then, it would be 40 oz of shea butter. I can explain this because you're making 2.5x the product of what I had since I had 4 jars and you have 6 more! In regards to carrier oils, you would then need 20 oz of Coconut Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, between 75-120 drops fragrance oil (less is always better is what I say), 5 tbsp of vitamin e oil

Hi! Thank you so much for taking an interest in body butters! I used 8 oz kerr jars for this project. This recipe yields 33 oz of product, so if you're looking to just make two jars of body butter then all you really need to do is half the ingredients! I hope this helps. If you have more questions then please ask away. If you have left over product, then you can use it on yourself. That usually happens due to the fact that you won't be able to get every bit out of the pastry bag if you do it the way I do. Or you can just pack it in from bowl to jar! Don't fill it to the top like I did. That was for the video because in the end, I had to squish the creations ;) I hope this helps!
