Nice watch, be it a you filmed it a while ago! Those roads look great for bikers! I’m considering parting company with a sportsbike for one of these. Time to slow it down a bit! I’ve had a soft spot for R9 T’s since they were launched. I did have a demo on one a few years ago. I’m not sure if it’s me or shaft drive bikes but do you always rev match blipping the throttle when changing down? Quite a few times I felt it would step out and not necessarily hard on the gas either. It put me off but I need to get back on one and give it another go.

Hello Neil, nice review, my question is specifically with suspension, I have a back that gives me trouble from time to time and I currently ride two Harleys, roadglide and street bob and I have upgraded suspension and seats on both, road glide is now good but street bob still hurst back on longer rougher roads, I also have a honda rally 300 which is great and never bugs my back even off road. Back to question how soft or hard is suspension, unfortunately I would sacrifice control in corners for a softer plush ride where the small bumps say 2" or so are taken out of the mix. Any feed back much appreciated as I am about to pull the trigger on one.
@MrNeilfatmonkey10 ай бұрын
That’s a really tough one to answer as I’ve never had back issues. I certainly didn’t find the suspension to be harsh, but a lot of people complain about it. As I said in the video, my frame of reference is limited as I’ve only had about 3 other bikes over the years and I’d hate to give you bad advice. All I can say is that it never gave me a bad back but there were certain roads that could be quite jarring. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Brilliant review and I live and ride around Elgin and surrounding areas. Anybody have any insight as to annual running or servicing costs for an R9T?
@MrNeilfatmonkey Жыл бұрын
I don’t remember it being too bad. I used to get it serviced every year regardless, but I’d say it was new tyres every couple of years depending on your riding style and road surface, and an oil and filter change each year. I personally never had to top up with oil between services.

Cheers! Thanks for the video. I bought a Scrambler, new. I’m doing the breaking period, it has About a week and 300 miles on the odometer. I can sense a smell of hot oil, maybe burned oil. Is this normal because the engine and everything is new? The engine temperature is fine and the engine oil level is at the mark, and the bike handles brilliant and sounds even better, but that smell, more frequently noted on low speed and low gears is kinda strange. Did you get that or is just me? Thank you ✌️✌️

Hi Neil, just found your channel as I’ve just ordered an R NineT. I now live in the Outer Hebrides, originally from Huntingdon, and was wondering if you get a wet back from the Evotech tail tidy when riding in the rain?
@MrNeilfatmonkey2 жыл бұрын
Tim, I’m from Peterborough and used to work just outside Huntingdon at RAF Wyton! You certainly do get some spray with the tail tidy, but I’m not convinced it’s a whole lot more than the original tail assembly. I normally wear good quality waterproofs in the wet, but on the one occasion I got caught in a light shower in jeans I had a very wet arse. Where in the Hebrides do you live? Hi Neil , seriously thinking of buying 2016/2017 models. My questions are with today’s fuel prices what average mpg are you getting and is not having a fuel gauge a problem. Thanks
@MrNeilfatmonkey2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan. I mostly do rural commuting, so my average speed according to the bike is probably only around 40mph, with some small town 20-30mph riding followed by long stretches of 60mph. I get around 48-50mpg but I’m a very heavy guy. I personally don’t have a problem with no fuel gauge, I just reset the trip computer after refilling and know the fuel light comes on at around 150 miles and I’ll get 180 miles from a tank.

Do you still own the NineT. I ride a Yamaha super tenere and an interceptor. Want to get this as a replacement for the interceptor. I was surprised to hear you say that this is really comfortable. I'm 6,'1 and 108 kgs. The only thing that's casting a doubt in my mind is comfort on day long rides. Is this good for that application as stock or would you recommend putting some more comfortable seats and a handlebar riser to start with ? Any more tips? I just love the fit and finish if the bike and the character of that boxer just won me over in my 30 min of test ride. Might go for the option 719 with the aluminum tank 😊😊
@MrNeilfatmonkey2 жыл бұрын
I do still own it and I do find it very comfortable, but I’m 5’11” so a little shorter. Your knees may feel it a bit more than mine and you might need higher bars, but it works well for me. I’ve just passed 14000 miles on mine and still love it. I have to admit my arse gets sore after a couple of hours on the standard seat so I got a Wunderlich active comfort seat which works well, but I genuinely think sitting down for hours at a time on any bike will get uncomfortable, short of maybe a Goldwing. 😀
