My mother still has a small lock of my grandmother's hair from before she passed. And theres a few locks of mine in an old photo album full of my baby pictures. ❤

I thought this was going to relate to a “if they go missing I have their DNA to cross test” type of thing but this is actually really sweet and I love the photos that go with it of the people cutting their hair. Very neat to see them all doing this with you and the photos are so cute and yes when you get older you’ll be able to look back at this and it’ll be sweet

In my country it is normal to collect a small lock of hair from your toddler and put it in the family album.

When I was born, in the 70’s, my mom had a baby book in which she kept a lock of hair from my brother. I have no idea where the book is now though.

I love this. My mom passed in march and my daughter actually asked to cut some of my mom’s hair to keep. It really is a forever piece of her.

Yes! It’s sort of a lost art but I’ve been looking for vintage lockets to preserve hair in. I’ve also seen beautiful hair wreaths, which I’m hoping to try next year

That is actually such an interesting idea. It's true. Over time, you begin to wonder if that person ever really even existed, so that physical reminder is like an anchor to that person.

When I was 16 my father died of cancer inside his cremation urn we put a lock of hair of each of us kids and my mother so my dad has our hair with him

Curious about the reference photo ~ I modelled in water a couple of times and made the mistake of having wet fabric over my face: you can't breathe. This image is incredibly visceral and emotional to me ♡
