What better game than a meaningless one for the Fever for bench development while letting the starters rest and heal? Good call for Sides!

This game was meaningless for the Fever (last regular season game I think), so Caitlin and Aliyah were resting for the playoffs. No need to risk an injury in a meaningless game, and it gives the chance for the bench to get some real minutes, in case they are needed in the playoffs.

@@bigtrip2750 No. The goals are a) to get to the playoffs, b) get into the best position in the playoffs to not encounter the toughest team in the first round, and c) get the starters as much rest and healing as possible, and the bench some playing time and confidence so as to maximize the Fever's chances in the playoffs. In a meaningless game it would be criminal for Sides to risk her starters' health.

DC averages 6500 a game, Caitlyn comes to town and they sound 20K. Looks to me that every team should be kicking in to give Caitlyn a raise. You do realize the WNBA has lost money every single year since it began.

They will live with it when they see their fatter paychecks next season and thereafter. The same happened when Magic or Bird would come to town in the NBA, and later, Michael Jordan. Everyone wanted to see MJ even if that meant the home team was likely going to lose. But Larry, Magic, and MJ did wonders for the livelihoods of the NBA players and their families.

@@davidbuller9433 Well, they certainly weren't there to see any of the stars get injured either. None of the stars were in. If the bench would have pulled out a win, that would have been amazing to see too, and a definite confidence boost for the team.

You didn't "tune in" into anything if you just checked out a video that had a title "Wild Ending!!" that showed literally the last 3 minutes of the game. Don't claim to be a CC fan if you didn't even look to see that normal starters played each at least 20 minutes of the game. ...and then somehow speak on behalf of all the fans because you know why they bought tickets. The team is more than CC, and based on the way she plays, I would bet CC herself would be the first one to say, the bench needs play too, in order to gain experience in high pressure moments.

Really. They pulled their starters out because the game had no bearing on the post season. They were celebrating because they are moving on to the playoffs. Pay attention.

No one playing their stars in a meaningless game! The Aces and Lynx starters did not play one minute last night. Fever should have sat their starters too, but Sides played them a few minutes for the 20,000 fans.
