I can’t think of any other songs on this album. Probably the stones as weakest album. But this song is great.

He, Mick Jagger, dances like a cat having zoomies, doing the Spider Dance across the floor. I like that stamping feet & paws routine. It's feline.

I always thought Undercover of the Night really captured the essence and feel of living in a dystopian nightmare. Whenever I have read or heard reviews or commentary about the song it seems most seem to think it is about the South American crisis at the time specifically but from the first time I heard it (I was already a huge Stones’ fan when it came out in 83), I thought it was science fiction depicting tumultuous times under tyranny which refers and alludes to times of strife other than in South America (‘The Race Militia has got itchy fingers/All the way from New York back to Africa’ for example) and fiction alluding to William S Burroughs novel Cities of the Red Night (‘Heard the screams in Centre 42/Loud enough to burst your brains out’) and Orwell’s 1984 (‘Some people whisper, people double-talk/Once proud fathers are so humbled’) Living in Canada, I never thought that I could end up in such a dystopian nightmare. This shit going on all over the Western world is what sci-fiction has been warning about all along.

Arguably the last tour when they were all truly remarkable onstage. After that they were - and still are - just great 😎
