Thanks for the video demonstration of air band receive on the ID-50A on VHF. It is unfortunate that you cannot receive air band on VFO B on this radio thus no dual-watch on air band. The same goes for its more capable sibling, the ID-52A though the ID-52A can also receive the VHF or UHF air band frequencies. If you want dual-receive on VHF air band, it seems like the Yaesu FT5DR is the only HT with that capability though its specs suggest it is less sensitive on air band than the Icom radios. Cheers!

You said you set it to "tone squelch" but you set it to "tone". If someone isn't paying attention they might set their radio to "tone squelch" as you said and it obviously won't work so you might want to clarify you need a TONE set there and not a TONE SQUELCH? sorry to nitpick you just some helpful advice... ✌️- 73

The FT-3DR had terrible receive audio and the FT-5DR really isn't much better. Ft-70DR still has much better audio quality. Pretty sad considering the FT-5DR is suppose to be Yaesu's flagship HT! I sold my FT-3DR and would not buy the FT-5DR! Yaesu lately seems to be throwing crap against the wall and hopes it sticks. Unfortunately the FT-70 is not as versatile as the FT-5DR. You cannot use the Wires-X software with the 70DR like you can the 3DR and 5DR.

Superb...I've been a fan of UP since childhood, despite being born and always having lived in England. Pics of Armor Yellow diesels in magazines and books, as well as a tinplate caboose in 0 scale I had when I was a boy, are largely responsible for this, though I've never got around to modeling it or visiting the US. For me, it is something quintessentially American. 73, G0CIQ
