Just a heads up The Prairie Woodsmen is very much still active. Has a channel we want to share with a wide range of audiences. There will be no changes to The Prairie Woodsmen and lots more hunting. Hunting is and should be about conservation for generations to come.

Love to see guys out trapping, but in Iowa it is illegal to disturb a beaver dam without permission from a conservation officer. The dam break set in Iowa is illegal
@carlmcintyre6318 ай бұрын
Good point. I partially agree. Breaking a dam could be considered disturbing. I didn't explain it like what I actually did. The flow overs were clogged with floating bark. I did clean out all the float in that one spot to reveal the crossover. You'll notice all the float accumulation in the last catch segment. In the night segment, I actually repaired a misplaced boot step. I don't want beaver repair, that means beavers pack mud on your traps. I set natural dam/cross overs. In the video I explained it poorly... FWIW, it's not like I'm taking a Backhoe to it.

The Coyote we saw on the dam made up our mind to hunt the next afternoon. Caleb shotgunned one coming to call. It looked just like the dam Coyote (no pun intended).

Good for you. Glad you liked it. If you are anywhere near Iowa, there are way more trapping places than trappers. Nice to be welcomed by farmers and ranchers. Nice to learn a forgotten niche of outdoorsmanship.
