I think valiant attempts were made to acquire the book, so taking a shortcut is where I’d probably end up too. No way I’m being gouged for a used paperback, probably with a broken spine 😱 You have me wondering how I can go and rewatch these Predator movies. I’ve seen (most of) them but it has been a long, long while. I think this must have been back in the day when Netflix was a DVD rental service, remember then?!

Thank for letting me off the hook! You should! I think they are all on Disney +. The new Predator movie, Prey, was really good because it was a bit more serious. I really enjoyed it. That has been a long time! And, sadly, I do remember that! [insert my often-used "I'm Old" gif hahaha]

Your KZbin content is so good. But there are lots of workspaces, which means you need to update your video optimization. Like SEO-friendly video title selection, writing an attractive SEO-related description, and researching high-rank targeted keywords according to your niche to rank your video. It is not possible to rank the video without completing these things. By customizing these things, you will reach your goal in the KZbin journey. Your video SEO score is not good. That's why channel view subscribers are not encouraged.

I’d say I’m on for a quest story, but I find that I’m non-too-wild about fumbling around confused as I’m reading! I’m not sure that I’m a reader of the weird, generally. I get frustrated that I’m not getting what’s there in front of me. As for strong contender for Book of the Month, I too am reading mine for July 😁 and it’s 2nd July as I type this to you now. Yes, it’s going to take something exceptional to knock my current book off, even though I’m only 40% in. I know! 😱 “Legacy of Brick & Bone” by Krystle Matar in case you’re curious.

🥇 I was sure that “Kenai” was going to get your coveted Book of the Month award for June! 😲 I think “Ten Low”, “Hel’s Eight” and “Ninth Life” are from “The Factus Sequence” series. I had to update the series name on The StoryGraph when I eventually realised “Ninth Life” was connected. So many July books! I have to wait until November before I get my mittens on “Alien Clay”, by which time Tchaikovsky will probably have released another six books. He just announced a new one for Feb.2025. He is so prolific 😱 We’ve had a heatwave over here 🇬🇧 but it has just calmed down a little. I have many fine books to read for July, but mostly I aim to continue/finish some ongoing series rather than start anything new.

🎧 When I first discovered podcasts I had to work out what kind of work I could do with half my brain distracted. Writing documents needed a whole bunch more concentration than I had anticipated. In the years since then I have never moved on from 1x speed. However, the one time I’ve tried an audio book I had to keep ⏪️ if my focus wavered, and I struggled to know who was who despite the narrator using distinct voices. It was like I needed a different skill level. I imagine the narrator had to figure this book out ahead of the recording!

However, after conducting a comprehensive analysis, I noticed there is room for improvement for your youtube channel for getting more visitors and subscribers. • Your Thumbnail needs to be more eye-catchy • Your Video Title, Meta Description needs to be improved • You need to use more SEO relevant tags and keywords This Can lead to lower views, Reduced engagement & Subscriber Growth. I saw a glowing review elsewhere and tried this, but couldn't finish it. I had a couple of hours left on audiobook for a few months now -- but I just could not do it. Bailed and hit 'mark as finished' today. I just could not stomach any more of the painful dialogue. Every character was seemingly going through some cringey coming-of-age (or new awareness) moment - continuously as if they were on some bizarre sci-fi high school field trip to each find their own superhero origin story and/or raison d'etre. Some interesting ideas for sure and I think with some aggressive editing there might be a decent novella in there. It was kinda predictable too, and all the characters inevitably run into each other (or literally cross paths) constantly, which made the world seem very very small to me. I feel mean spewing this out in the comments section on YT - but I really wish I'd watched your review before buying it.

🦹♂️ I am very much drawn to a heist story - I even tag such stories up in my StoryGraph data - but insta-love/romance elements are generally incredibly tedious for me* so this one won’t be to my personal preferences. BTW, I have “Kenai” arriving tomorrow, Friday 14th, following your earlier rec. 👍 *I recently read and enjoyed Mega E. O’Keefe’s “The Blighted Stars” but the romance in that was just too much for me. So my level for it is very, very low.

I was introduced to Premee Mohamed with her "Beneath the Rising" trilogy, which was wild, and over the course of three books somehow went from a techno-dystopian action thriller to massive lovecraftian cosmic horror insanity, and I loved it. Other than that I have only read "The Siege of Burning Grass," which was entirely different, and explored ideas of nationalism and state-violence through a fantasy lens. Across the board, though, her writing was always lovely and compelling. "The Annual Migration of Clouds" has been on my TBR for a while, and your pair of reviews have bumped it up! I definitely recommend you check out her other work, too, if you get the chance.

☢️ I cannot really recall the last dystopian book I read. There is almost certainly an example, but none pop to mind as I type. So I’d have to say this is an under-read genre in my own reading. I have no clear answer why I don’t often enter that orbit 🧐 I should do a review of my shelves, I know there are some examples on there… : [goes away and does some filtering on his StoryGraph data] : Well now, here’s an interesting thing that backs up my thinking above. In my … let’s call it substantial, so I can avoid actual numbers 😜… Library I own a mere 36 books that have been tagged as “dystopian” on The StoryGraph. I was actually thinking of Patrick Tilley’s “The Amtrak Wars” but it isn’t tagged as such. Of those that I’ve read, they were all read in the 2014-2017 range except for one, “Tender is the Flesh”, which I read last year. So there you go, an actual answer to my opening thought. This comment brought to you as a stream of consciousness. Bye 🙋♂️

Your opening introduction to this book made me laugh, as it reminded me of my current read, Megan E. O’Keefe’s “The Blighted Stars” which is very definitely SciFi but has waaayyyy too many romance elements in it for my simpler tastes 😅 Very much enemies-to-checking-out-his-backside if you get my general drift 😜 As in a bit in-your-face and lacking in subtlety. But that’s all some other book so way off-topic, and much less interesting that Wholefoods on The ‘Zon! 😁 AI ‘romances’… WTF?! 🤯🤯🤯 I am heading in a much more analog direction as I age - I cannot roll my eyes harder at many aspects of modern day tech, even for a lifelong SciFi boy like myself 🤓
