well,i joined the furry fandom in August 2024,and knowing the problems with that fandom,i just avoid every problematic person within the fandom to not get myself go down that rabbit hole,and it has been quite a coincedence that i am into warhammer 40k from like July 2024,and found out some furries who also like warhammer 40k,it is like with things like Doom Eternal,a great thing,but happened to be having a influx of people who are outright edgy and think that posting the "BURN THE HERETIC,KILL THE MUTANT,PURGE THE UNCLEAN" under a random furry video will make them win the argument the best thing i am grateful of myself of,i joined when i was a adult,not like when i was 14 or 16 years old,but when i am 19 years old,which gives me a full pesperctive about the fandom than some "uwu its good there ignore the haters owo",and hell,even me myself got into two beefs with a random furry dude who happened to be a massive gooner,sent inflation NSFW imagery to a minor,and doxxed me in sake of a "joke" back between march and april 2024 its really great to see someone saying their own opinions about furries and just saying hard-to-get facts than just sweeping the problems under the rug,as a furry,i agree totally with all the points made here

I never joined the fandom to begin with. Despite my love of anthro characters I was able to see their true colors and I never wanted to be apart of that. Honestly it was the right call to make. I can still enjoy what I enjoy, make art, have a fursona, write fiction, and nothing stops me from making friends with people that have the same interest. I get all the benefits without the downsides and the baggage that comes along with being in the fandom. No one hates on me because they can judge me as an individual rather then as a member of a group. I implore anyone who is considering joining the fandom to just go your own way instead. You don't need a community to validate your interests or make you feel loved.

I like this video a lot for what it stands for, the previous one seemed a little vague on the reasoning, but things cleared up here! I am a furry, though not involved in the community or anything like that. I’m glad this wasn’t some generic furry first-person-shooter review, but rather one that comes from experience and reason :] I don’t know much about the fandom at all, but these are good precautions to take especially for someone heading into the storm like me. I feel like many furries tend to be very defensive of the community without reason, which is a weakness in weeding out bad habits and people within the fandom. The lesson to be learned here is that you should always question the actions of others no matter their background or relation to you, just sounds right, no crime goes unpunished! I get being “cringe” is an issue with some people, I used to find a lot of things furries do weird and uncomfortable, I used to even be an anti-fur with the doom slayer profile picture and all. But since I’ve gotten a good look from both sides I don’t think furries or anyone ever will be able to avoid the inevitable cringy stage in their life. I get cringe being compared to how chill or normal a person is, but I don’t think I’d put those two things on the same spectrum. All people are weird in one way or another so I think it’s more a matter of accepting little things about a person. You get what I’m saying? I think judgement of a person should come from an acceptance of personality, but a precaution of their actions, behavior can be a pretty tell-tale way of knowing a person’s intentions, but making assumptions only leads to more unjust accusations. Which is the reason I liked your experienced take on the whole thing. So my counter argument is that you should view what furries do and choose from their perspective, that is if you ever do bring this topic up again. Just my opinion though! And I respect you leaving the fandom, people shouldn’t be trying to make you come back after what sounds like a nightmare of an experience.

honestly as a girl who loves dark humor when done right, i hate dark "humor" that is just nothing but offensive words being said without it being funny. Like master oogway's dark jokes like years ago were WAY better than this slop.

I highly doubt any actual racist, sexist or whatchamacallhim is gonna use humor as an excuse for anything. They are usually the most open about it people. Thus their very much edgy jokes aren't meant to hide anything, although they can be hilarious and that's where I think the word "edgy" is generalizing. The "Illegals in my yard" parody is still so funny to me, and I think it's harmless. It cannot possibly be offensive to a latin or south american, and if you think it is, you have clearly not spoken with a single one of them lol.

@@private-international-ss It's because of the structure of the joke, one is unexpected, although dark, it's easy to understand that it is a joke, the second one is just "indians don't shower" there is no punchline, no joke, the person just said a stereotype and added a video to say It was just a joke, but, for example, if I were to make a joke like "How many cops does it take to change a lightbulb? I don't know, they just kept beating the room for being black." People can understand that this isn't about promoting or condoning racism from cops, it is exactly about criticising a bad behaviour that often affects black people in America, that is entirely different from just saying "Police brutality is hilarious haha" that is not a joke, that is just a statement, and a bad one at that.

When I was younger I actually thought it was funny I might be wrong but if the punchline is only about the race it isn't funny For eksempel about Israel training camp and Pakistan Elementary School if you were to say they '''bOtH hAVe bOmBs'' It would be unfunny, It's just a racist stereo type but when you bring in the flying the drone it's also about the war

There is nothing edgy about the robin williams joke. It is safe edgy because it is really poking fun at americans which is completely socially acceptable in the modern west which is obsessed with self loathing. Same with the "I just fly the drone joke". Both of these jokes actually just consist of the criticism that americans (or any other western nation) are violent and oppressive towards non western nations and will kill them without a second thought or remorse. Is something really edgy when the mainstream "correct opinion" you are allowed to say without social consequences is 100% behind the message the joke is trying to present? The joke about the indian running away from the shower was 100x funnier but you consider the joke "just racism" because it is making fun of people who are not western or considered from industrial nations. You forget that the indian joke is using a sterotype like "indians are dirty" but makes it so over the top that it is funny. It implies that Indians use so much of their energy to actively avoid water in order to stay dirty which is obviously rediculous, making it funny.

One reason some people find edgy humor funny is because it is ridiculous. It is often times so outlandish, so out of place, so unexpected that it makes it funny. And humor is always subjective. You don't get to decide what is funny BardiX. I might fight toilet humor funny, you might not. Besides, context is always important. A clans member calling out blacks slurs to a black person has an entirely different connotation than oogway saying it on a video for shock/funny value.
@palecandyАй бұрын
@@steelswarm2721 context is super important in this. i'm gonna refer to oogway mainly for this but did he say that because he wants to make people laugh or because he wants to anger people? because if it's the latter that's just not humor anymore on another note, i don't think he was telling people what should and shouldn't be funny moreso than he was just criticising hateful people (a lot of the viewership on the 'offensive' memes channels) for finding something made with hateful intent towards a group of people funny. a joke should not be made at the cost of another's fun unless they're taking jabs at them for poor decisions they've made. making a joke out of trump by making a wall joke of sorts is ok. making a joke about 'all indians being dirty' is just hateful stereotyping

I never decided what was funny or not, it’s just a guide of sorts if you will, but I struggle to understand what’s funny with “hey look Indians are dirty amirite?” It’s blatant hatred and doesn’t have a layer of irony that makes it funny, like the ISIS and Pakistani school joke has a layer of irony because drone strikes happen, see the difference?
@steelswarm2721Ай бұрын
@@BardiXOfficial You literally said "[...] what memes are funny and what memes are not funny [...]" that is deciding what is funny or not. And you don't need to have an "irony layer" to have a funny joke. Simple comedy is funny to some people. Stereotypes can also be funny too and can be made into jokes. Some might be unfunny or low effort to you, and that is also OK. Just remember that context is important, and that you should not let the caricature or the generalization of something become an accepted reality. Other than that, joke away.
@steelswarm2721Ай бұрын
@@palecandy Oogway mainly wanted to make people laugh. He probably also knew that the controversy about some edgy things he said would bring him views as well. Comedy encompasses a lot of things palecandy. My comedic limits are different from yours, and some jokes are also not funny to me. But I understand that most people that make these jokes don't mean the offensive stuff they say. Sometimes they just want the low effort comedy, or to get some laughs by saying ridiculous or offensive things. We should let people make the jokes about what they want to make. Even if we don't find it funny. Its a great opportunity do discuss serious issues behind those jokes. If we start silencing comedy we'll soon lose our own voices too. Its a slippery slope.
