What drone were you using? I’m thinking of taking my mini 3 pro for this but I’m just curious how they handle the cold and the high winds(if windy) at that altitude
@adidoesultra97772 күн бұрын
I was using the Air2S and it performed superb in all the conditions. The battery is cold and there's a warning about it, yes. But I let it hover for a short while and the battery gets warm by itself. Or you could carry it in one of your pockets or put it in a small bag with a heat blanket or similar. The winds we're never a problem tbh. Idk what winds the mini 3 pro can handle, same as the altitude. DJI says the max altitude for the Air2S is 4.000m, but I've gone up to 6.700m no no problems. I know people who've gone up to 7.800m, so...

I watch the videos and wonder who taught you or allowed you to use walking poles when using crampons? On such steep terrain with the use of crampons, hiking poles are deadly, as you will not be able to stop safely with them if you slip.

Hardly steep terrain imho, nothing I won't be able to stop or where I'm going to slip in the first place. But yes, on steeper terrain an ice ace is a must-have

Hi, loved you video which reminded me of some very good memories: I did a long trek up to Makalu BC, crossing east and west cols to Baruntse BC and then up Mera Peak 15 years ago, just amazing! I didn't think I was capable of climbing a 7000m peak at the time, but I was so well acclimatised I'm sure I could have tried (I climbed Mera peak from base camp at 5350m to summit in 4.5hrs), may be I'll try one day! The drone footage is just amazing by the way!

We had a combined package together with Baruntse, so I can't tell how much Mera alone is Also highly depends on how many porters, how many/which Sherpas or company so - hard to tell. But something between 2.000 and 3.000€ seems reasonable

Why do you (also) say that Mera is the highest trekking peak in Nepal when the NMA trekking peak list has Chulu Central at 6558 meters and Singu Chuli at 6501 meters? SImply look at the list before writing such nonsense easily verified. Ok, here is the reason for the confusion: the original trekking peak list had the height of Peak 41 (shown in the video) for Mera, over 6650 meters. This mistake was not found out until 1999. Agencies still use the old "highest trekking peak" slogan in their advertising (knowingly or not, they should know, of course) and of course clients want to repeat that in social media just spreading the lie, without bothering to check the facts.
@adidoesultra9777Ай бұрын
As another comment already stated, it's up for discussion what the highest trekking peak is. Muztagh Ata or Aconcagua could be considered as well. But as trekking is considered to be a relatively safe sport with view objective risks etc. I think Mera is the right call, as it has good infrastructure, well laid out routes and hardly any fatalities.
@karipintakivi9153Ай бұрын
@@adidoesultra9777 I am not commenting about Aconcagua or Muztagh Ata, only about Trekking Peaks of Nepal, of which Mera is the THIRD highest, no discussion needed about this fact.

The way I did it: 1) from Dingpoche to bit past Chukhung, camping. 2) half day to Amphu Labtsa Phedi, camp. 3) over Amphu Labtsa to east side of Peak 41, camp. 4) to Mera La 5400m, camp. 5) start at 6 am, summit Mera central 10.00, down to camp, take it down, continue to Thagnak, arrive 14.00. overnight in yak herder hut 6) hike to leaning rock camp, sleep out. 7) over Zatrwa La to Lukla. No lodges, no services, no trekkers, no permits. Year: 1985. I can not understand why people start from "high camp" at midnight, should take no more than 3 hours max form there.

Well we started at 02:15am and it took us 04:30hrs to get to the summit. Everyone has their own pace and that's fine. No need to rush. If you've done it differently - congrats. Doesn't mean that's for everyone or that it's the best way to do it

@karipintakivi9153Ай бұрын
Of course it is possible, takes a few days and fixed ropes on the North side of Amphu Labtsa. From acclimatisation standpoint it is better to visit EBC first, then cross Amphu Labtsa, climb Mera and exit to Lukla. Takes about a week less. We hiked Dingpoche - AL - Mera - Zatrwa La - Lukla in 7 days, could have done it in 6 actually.

@adidoesultra97773 ай бұрын
It should be, yes. But we don't know about underlying health issues or problems during the acclimatization phase (GI issues, flu etc). This really impacts how well you acclimatizate and may lead to AMS or worse

1.I don't know it by memory, but depends on which route you take and how many rest days you take. 2. Heli flight is short, maybe 15min 3. The day before we're a lot of groups and on our day about 8 groups as well, but we we're first, so not many people there 5. Weather is always an issue and hard to predict, but -20°C and some wind is to be expected. 6. I was exempted from the need of a drone permit due to professional reasons/connections. But normally you do need one which is hard to get
