Aside from many other things, this was fascinating. I'm currently taking my Sociology degree and there aren't many anti-feminist papers for evaluations, or men's rights, aside from homelessness and suicide rates in young men. I would consider myself a feminsit, but I'm always open to hear what other people have to say as otherwise you never develop your opinions properly and this was interesting.

Frank Jr. wanted to keep the art together. The other three were greedy and wanted to sell it all. Two friends of Frank Jr. helped also with the backhoe break in. They only wanted to saved the art from private collections. Bill tried to steal Frank's money out of the bank. The bank said no. All four live in killer homes that were built with Frazetta art money. They did not respect their parents museum dream. Art was missing out of the house before Frank Sr. died. Frazetta set up Bill with the costume shop. Frazetta set up Frank Jr. with a pro golf shop. They all worked and made a living. All four of these Yankee dumb asses were in the wrong. The lawyers made a killing. All four phucked up !

His son actually did duplicates of his work shown in the museum and Frank would supervise. He learned a lot from Frank but regardless they seem like a really tight nit family and are supporting his legacy instead of going after their own which we should be thankful for considering how relevant and timeless his work has become. She said herself she wouldn't sell his painting and attempt at manual labor to support her needs rather than selling it out so abruptly.

No, that's a moron-thought. Frank was one-in-a-million, and it's hard enough for kids to grow up in that kind of shadow w/out some idiot like you coming along. Frank did what he did exactly FOR his kids. He wanted them to live well from his work, and it's their job to make sure his legacy is curated.

AFI lost a lot of fans, I think they are realizing this, and they are trying to reconnect, but also reinvent themselves. Problem is they need to go independent , and with Jade producers now, I think they are taking steps to do this. But they have to ask themselves , do they want to be rock stars or to be seen as artists. They honestly need to come out of their bubble , and look around. Look at a band like Opeth. That's a fine example of evolution.
@eclecticacafe4682
@eclecticacafe4682 7 жыл бұрын
There are plenty who would disagree with your Opeth parallel. They, arguably, have evolved similarly to AFI. I say that because they once were heavy and aggressive, and now they make "weak" rock that belongs in a 70s acid trip. Whereas AFI once was GREAT skate/goth punk, and now they are pop rock with a slight goth tinge. Both bands, though, are bands i enjoy to a certain degree on all their albums. More to the point of their "loss of fans". Every band loses fair weather fans. Once the popular music conversation has moved on to some younger, usually less talented, band. In the case of AFI though they manage to keep relevancy in an age much different than the one they started in. Granted they are not as popular as they were circa 2004, but NO ONE has that kind of popularity these days due to a vast number of reasons. You, I can only guess, were not at the show the night we recorded this interview with Adam. It was a sold out crowd, in spite of the 2 opening acts being mediocre or less. The point of artist vs "rock star"... The 2 words are not mutually exclusive. The guys enjoy what they do, if they happen to make a lot of money while doing it then so be it. They have other projects that don't make nearly the kind of money AFI does. Blaq Audio is something rather different, and XTRMST is even more drastically different. They continue to make the music they want, which in my book makes them artists. Just because you, nor do I really, don't like the music they have been doing of late, doesn't mean they are no longer artists. We appreciate your engaging in the conversation... thank you for watching and listening to the show.

Eclectica Cafe AFI are just lazy, plain and simple. We don't need to make excuses as to why their music is mediocre these days. We , in a sense, become ENABLERS, encouraging their self destructive path. AFI need to hear constructive but harsh criticism or they won't ever wake up. There was a time when AFI had drive and passion. This is almost but entirely lost. AFI needs a good kick in the balls for being pussy ass bitches. It's called tough love. And they need to hear in up close and in their face. Mere hate just emboldens them to be moronic and pretentious turds, they need a loving face smashing, in the form of protest, so to speak. These guys live in a fucking bubble. It's time to time pop their bubble. Fuck feelings. Again, hating on these guys won't help, because they will just feel some bullshit form of validation , hence, not changing . Let's be clear, I don't give a fuck about their feelings, trust me, they aren't worried about yours or mine. So next time I see them , I'm going to call them out.
@eclecticacafe4682
@eclecticacafe4682 7 жыл бұрын
Again I make the point: Just because you don't like the direction they are going doesn't mean they should change. Just means you should stop listening. As you said, any vitriol sent their way (like name calling, or calls to violence) will just add to their steadfastness. I do speak critically of their recent endeavors. And I don't make excuses for someone over whom I have no control. I think, personally, that they haven't put out a decent album since Sing the Sorrow, nor have they put out a GOOD album since Art of Drowning. Chance would disagree with me, but those are both just OUR OPINIONS. Opinions have no great bearing on art unless they are held by the artist. Being as I am not, no are you, in AFI they aren't going to give 2 shits if we like their new stuff. They have decided they want to make quasi-dark pop music recently. So be it. It is their art to make. Sure I can say I don't like it, but no matter what I say (constructive or otherwise) it will not change their direction. This comes back to an older-than-you-or-me argument of "selling out." From the sounds of it, in your head, AFI has sold out because they changed the direction they are taking their music. To me, however, they are evolving in the way they see fit. Selling out, to me, is when a band, or artist, makes music, or art, STRICTLY for the paycheck. There is no heart in what they do, nor do they stand behind their work. If you have EVER seen AFI, recently or back in the day, then you know that they ABSOLUTELY believe in what they do. After meeting them the night of this interview, I believe that even more than before. To your point of "Calling them out"... No you won't. Davey, as diminutive as he may be, is an intimidating presence by himself, let alone the 4 of them together. So, any veiled threat you may be implying here is hollow at best. Secondly, if they did entertain an audience with you despite the hatred in your eyes, they would direct you to XTRMST if you want something more aggressive, but still sounds like AFI. With good reason too, because it is a good damn album, if you can get passed the self indulgent straight-edge bullshit. I think the biggest point to take away from this, though, is to not let your emotions color your judgement. If you don't like something an artist does that doesn't mean that you should take it as a personal affront. People's tastes diverge from one another DAILY. It is nothing special, and neither is the opinion of others. Thank you, again, ringsonseven for your impassioned discussion. We truly appreciate your input. ~D

Eclectica Cafe I think your wrong, in my view about so many things here. And good journalism demands we not just kiss the ass of some band. Ask tough questions. I don't give AFI special treatment to stink just because I like them.

There is a proper interview with Jade (and hopefully the rest of the band) in the works for the next time they are in Colorado. Assuming things play out in our favor we fully intend on doing a more critical interview. THIS interview was with no preparation, and immediately after a show. We caught Adam backstage on a whim, after being told by the label that they wouldn't have time to talk to us. So my apologies if we were under prepared. Don't mistake that for a pass to suck because we are fans. We literally, 20 to 30 minutes before this took place, just got done watching them play/mosh pitting to Totalimmortal, my personal favorite song they have ever written. So i was still a touch starry eyed. If that, to you, means that I compromised my journalistic integrity then I apologize on my personal behalf

There are other ways to desecrate the US flag besides burning/stomping via the US Constitution-2nd Amendment. The 2nd Amendment can be used against the US flag- the desecration of the US flag by gun fire/etc (the shooting of the flag which may damage the flag enough to be considered "desecration" via guns/using the gun as a ripping tool to tear up/rip up the flag/mark up/beat up on the flag-"pistol whip") as a form of protest-1st Amendment. There are many "If People Don't Like Me Practicing my 2nd Amendment Gun rights via the Constitution, they can pack up their f%^&*^G bags and get the f%^k out of the USA/ Come and Take It/ I'll Give You My Guns When You Pry Them From My Cold Dead Hands" US Citizens who may have served in the United State Armed Forces and experienced various traumas (loss of family/friends/etc) of war for the 2nd Amendment. Those people with very powerful and influential US Gun Rights Organizations who value the 2nd Amendment Right will probably fight to the death, come hell or high water, against any one (Democrats/Republicans/etc) or any organization (the US government/etc) against the 2nd Amendment. Those Gun Rights activists may not take to kindly to those (Congressmen/etc) who happen to interfere with the 2nd Amendment (instituting background checks to get a gun at a gun show-dealer-ect/forcing gun owners to register their guns/ banning assault rifles/etc) and/or punish those (jail time/fines/etc) if those who do happen to choose to use their 2nd Amendment Right-using their gun as they see fit- to practice their 1st Amendment Right- Free Speech (Flag Desecration) on a flag that they own. Plus, NOT EVERY SINGLE individual who has ever served in United States Armed Service Members-past/present- has issues what so ever with people desecrating the flag (burning/stomping on it/shooting the flag up with ammunition) since it 's protected free speech via the US Constitution-1st Amendment. To some US veterans-past/present, they may see the practice of the 1st Amendment (Flag desecration) as an validation/affirmation of what they fought for and what they felt their family/friends died for- the US Constitution and the Rights/Freedoms that it provides.
