What's the 404 + Octa workflow like? I've got a 404mk2 as well and dig the fx and resampling but hate the pattern workflow. Wondering if having 2 samplers like that is worth it? Gonna invest in a Yamaha Reface CS before anything else though, seems like the perfect simple/portable synth to go with a 404

When I use them together, I mostly use the 404 as an FX processor for OT sequencing. Works great with the OT just running through the Inputs, having it run through the 303 vinyl sim and a little reverb gives it that extra character. Although for this video, the 404 is just eye candy, I used it for processing and drums in my previous MPC video. I got comfortable with the 404 pattern workflow using my synths, although it does take some getting used to either recording to a metronome or using skipback on the external source if you wanna record. The reface seems like a nice choice to pair with a 404. I started with the OP-1 and then the Minifreak as synths to sample into my 404, they really opened up my sampling workflow.

along with the XYFX you can map a qlink to a specific FX parameter and play with that on the fly and record automation. Kinda kills the 404 I think when you get it mapped nice.
