You might also round the top edges of the eye before doing this, so the eye of the axe head doesn't start cutting into the wood and making it mushroom as bad. Overall though, great advise for fitting an axe head, regardless of a friction fit or standard fittings.

I Love crazy crow. Never had a bad experience. Once I needed a rattle snake hide to back a bow with, I needed one bigger than was in the catalog. Well the man I talked to on the phone went out and got me a 5 fter. Since that time I've been a dedicated customer. This was back in the 90s.
