As much I as I would like to give credibility to this explanation - this only explains part of the collapse. They had a terrible culture of hiding bad news and using tricks to paper over the bad news or to kick the can down the road for the next guy. Their rack and stack culture was great to help the company lean out but to persist with that approach also killed experimentation and mistake making.

Great interview. I believe companies don’t give you the full strategy at investor relations because they’d give its competitors a leg up. Public strategy and internal strategy two different animals lol 😂.

Agreed, there is a balance that should be reached and we should have the flexibility to remove protocols to enhance speed. But in the same breadth, no procedure or at least just documentation of how stuff functions or was built is no good either. Where do you think the balance lies?

What if an small business or startup wanted to set systems and build and internal operating system, and in order for our consulting firm to worth the time, we would organize GROUP training sessions for a handful of times. Thus way we can charge a registration fee and bring plenty of small clients in the same place and teach them at the same time?

This is already a coaching and training business. It can be combined with consulting business, if you can deliver both services to clients.

Hello Kris, my name is Bruno and I just would like to congratulate and thank you for this wonderful interview! You’ve managed to go deep with Mike, I’ve been studying his work lately and in this interview Mike has addressed the key points of his work in a more thorough way than in the others I’ve watched on YoTube where he also talks about Pattern Breakers. Very nice! Tks

Agree! The way I've perceived choosing a demand-side or supply-side approach depends on whether the commodity is in scarcity or not. In this case, 2 cashiers are "limited/ scarce" in their ability to process more than a certain number of orders, so it's valuable to use the supply-side approach. In contrast, if we were to think of sizing a market for water bottles purchased in the US, it's way harder to do it from a supply approach (trying to estimate production capacities, etc.) so it's way easier and sensible to use the demand-side approach. This is not to say it isn't possible to choose either approach, but that it's helpful to not have a "default" option.

As someone who has to deal with undergrads all the time GPA is not a hallmark of success or ability. You need to sus out their character, their ethics, and their logic. You can get any drone to pump out memorized tracks of trash but quality can come from anywhere.
