Picasso's quote at the beginning is a variation on The Treachery of Images, the1929 painting by Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte, more commonly known as Ceci nest pa's une pipe (this isn’t a pipe). In it, we see a pipe but it's not a real pipe, simply a painting of a pipe. As Magritte explained you clearly see it looks like a pipe but you can't fill it with tobacco & smoke it. My favourite Picasso painting is Guernica, his response to the bombing of Guernica, a small market town in the Basque region of Spain. During the Spanish Civil War it was an important site for the Basque people, the symbol of their cultural identity. On 26 April 1937, the German & Italian Air forces bombed Guernica on behalf of the right-wing Nationalists who were trying to overthrow the left-wing Republican government. It was market day & the place was full of children, woman & old people. They deliberately bombed in the late afternoon so children were not in school but in the streets. All the men were away fighting in the war, so it was a deliberate attack on civilians. The people were stuck in the town centre & couldn't escape because previous fighting had blown up roads & taken down bridges. The painting Guernica was done later that year, & Picasso toured with it to raise funds for the Republican armies. The painting is called Guernica, it represents what happened during the bombing of Guernica but it isn't actually the market town of Guernica. So it's a lie, a fabrication to depict the truth of what happened on 26 April 1937, a representation of the bombing of Guernica. That's how I view the Picasso quote at the start.

Here’s what Johannes said on his twitter a while ago, about the Satanism topic. It’s a long thread but i think it’s pretty interesting! “The last year or so, it has become increasingly hard for me to get around Satan as a symbol for anything and everything I believe the world and myself needs. Got a runner's high a while back ago, almost trance like, in which I saw myself as Satan themself. During the pandemic I somehow managed to land in a lot of ideas that came to me in a more edge lordy package back in my teens. The documentary Hail Satan? brought a lot back in a form the resonates strongly with me. The spiritual journey if an Atheist. Symbols matters, rituals have power, and it will remain impossible to examine our place in the universe without dealing with the gods for some time still. As much as they do not objectively exist, they are as real in people's minds as any other brand, entity or currency. Getting brushed up on my Yuval Noah Harari once again, I am stunned to see exactly how much of the things I despise the most about humanity can be traced to monotheism, or any version of religion that puts humans at the center of creation. The justification of the monstrous slaughter of innocent animals and humans alike can be traced to a world view that makes you the chosen one. A natural order put in place by nature, a prime mover. Racism, nationalism, imperialism. Made natural by lies. God is right there in their minds. Satan is just another word, but the goat holds a power that I think can save us. The goat versus the lamb as seen by the shepherd cult that won the west. For Satan makes me one and only, and one of many. And that's the challenge. No one is chosen. We are just here. In that we are all the same. We need to try to only think one or all, and nothing in between. It's hard. It is my left hand path, and it is surely to piss someone off. But that's fine too. Symbols are how you use them. And thus, I am Satan.”

I love this song and your reaction! Avatar is my favorite band and they helped me go through many panic attacks and bad mental health moments. I couldn’t go to school because my social anxiety got too bad which means I didn’t have any grades so I dropped out of school 3 months ago. after that I felt really bad and lonely because I didn’t have a social life anymore. In that time I was listening only to avatar and even in the worst moments their music lifted me up and it still does! Johannes always says “thank you for putting so much meaning into what we do because it means something to you” and it really means much to me. My favorite avatar song is when the snow lies red i think it’s very tragic but also beautiful!! i would recommend you to check out make me famous by Kim Dracula & use and abuse by avatar! I am so upset that I discovered this band so late (just a few months ago) because they are EVERYTHING I've ever wanted from a band! I'm really grateful for your reactions because this way I could go with you on my Avatar journey and it's been awesome! I just started going through each of their albums & singles and I can't pick a favorite (although from this album it would probably be Lullaby Death All Over). I agree, seeing Johannes without makeup was pretty unusual at first, but I'm getting used to it! It's amazing to see the progress of this band! If you remember the song My Shining Star there's a bit there where Johannes is doing the iconic O-AH growl, but it sounds so high pitched and dry, it reminds me of a voice crack😂 (still sounds good though)- and then compare it with the O-AH in Torn Apart ...wow, that's growth. And now they are all so synchronized and they have so much fun together, during interviews or on stage and behind the stage! I remember seeing a video of Johannes and John chasing each other around or with Henrik hiding behind a door to scare Jonas 😂 I highly recommend watching an avatar compilation of funny moments in your free time. Get your dose of serotonin! :))

This is a song about the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs; later known as KGB), how they sentenced millions to be executed or sent to Siberia to labour camps. "Bloody angel" is a NKVD officer who just approved one death of an "public enemy" after another. And the frontman of Avatar embodies the demon who haunts him in his dreams. And ss Johannes said, ‘Bloody Angel’ is about shame and guilt. You look around and watch all the suffering and while you search for someone or something to blame, you end up in front of a mirror. Everything you touch, you break. Everyone you try to save you hurt and push further away. Interesting fact: Johan Carlen was inspired by Dogville and Manderlаy by Lars von Trier when building the scenery for the clip. For the first time, the band shoots their play separately. Just on a black backdrop.

hi ! i just discovered your channel with your black waltz reaction, and it makes me really happy because avatar is my favorite band ever i'm completely obsessed with their music but i have nobody around me to share my entouthiasm with. i watched a fiew reaction videos before yours but yours are different since you're clearly into them and i like how deep your reaction goes ! i also saw that you reacted to a bunch of lord of the lost songs, it's one of my favorite bands ! and also BTS, i used to be a kpop stan haha and even though i never really was a BTS fan, i really like their music (but i stopped to check their stuff after map of the soul). but i would like to recommand you a song from them, it's Lie in the Wings album, it's sung by jimin and it's an amazing song, the lyrics are really good as well (but i don't think that there is a video). there's also Filter, by Jimin again that I love, in Singularity by V, even though i don't listen to it anymore because it makes me sad haha (but there is a video !) going back to avatar, i'm pretty sure you already know this song but i would love to hear your reaction to Barren Cloth Mother, it instantly became my favorite song of them when they released it (or maybe one of my favorites). I love the music, the artwork that goes with it, and also the lyrics are clearly political and talk about animal exploitation (i'm vegan and animalist so obviously i was happy haha), i looooove when music gets political (well, when I agree with it, btw you could react to Gojira as well, when it comes to political lyrics, and from Avatar I love when all but forces have failed, i'm super young and i'm not involved in politics since a long time, but I relate to this song so much, maybe my interpretation is off but i really see the frustration and anger, feeling so powerless but still pouring all your heart in what you do to make the world a little better) and as i mentionned i used to be a kpop stan and the only group i stanned was mamamoo ! if you want to react to a bit more kpop haha, but i don't think that their music is as interesting as BTS', especially because when it comes to the deeper lyrics i think that you have to know the group and what every member has been through to really get it. but they are amazing vocalists and they are so good live ! anyway that's a really long and boring comment i'm sorry haha i just got really excited by your channel !

I loved this song, I've seen some people comment that "it doesn't sound like avatar" but for me it's precisely that versatility of their music that makes them unique, you never know what to expect from them but in the end it just works :) This band changed my life when I discovered them 3 years ago. That same year I lost loved ones, I was in an abusive relationship, I felt very lonely and my mental health was so bad. When I discovered Avatar I was immediately captivated by their music, it helped me lift my spirits when I was feeling the worst, I feel like they were the soundtrack that played during my healing process and I'm so thankful for that.

Avatar just chillin with their fans.)) So cute.🥰🥰🥰 It always looks like the band is going to have problems right now, but the monsters turn out to be fans.)) Giant black figure is Ghost. 👻👻👻 The video was shot near the place where this album was recorded, in the Swedish woods, around beginning of October. This cabin can be seen at the end. The car is same from Dance Devil Dance. So Devil assembled cultists and monsters to sabbath.)) 🤘🤘😈🤘🤘The vampire is Ronja Kruus, she played Tim's girlfriend and also EDM dancer in Legend of Avatar Country" A Metal Odyssey. It's so cute that they don't forget those with whom they used to work.))) And with the Аvatar Country this clip connects also the fabulousness and friendliness of what is happening.)) The main riff of the song has been sitting around for about 20 years (like Silence in the Age of Apes), the band has said, waiting to be used. Dude, if a person is normal, they don't think, "Oh, I'm so normal," it doesn't work that way. It's just there and doesn't need reassuring yourself. If you have to tell yourself that everything is normal, then everything is just abnormal.)) It's just everything - denial, anger, bargaining, depression - before acceptance. Reaction to Avatar - Scream Until You Wake, please. It have pretty same feel what you talking for.

This one I think truly can be interpreted in many ways. For me personally I decided to relate it to myself, and that is of not fitting in, yet I do with others who also don't fit in. The thing I take from the video itself is a sense of community and most of my friends, are in fact amongst the Avatar community. I love the contrast of a funky upbeat sound, a few ABBA vibes in the tune of the chorus and the little disco dance, with the sadness in the singing and the lyrics. Hell Twitty dude you're a great person, honestly. I understand anxieties... Of course I'm nit trying to suggest our anxieties are the same as each other but I am working hard on pushing through social anxieties, and daring to be me. And as you invite us to comment on if and how Avatar has changed our lives, this actually is life altering for me, as are the friends I've made. I feel I've made changes, am more me than ever before and they had an influence by example with that. Anyway, Twitty, truly am glad you're back. I know you're going through things, you know where to find me if you need an ear.

Yes just as Juno says below. And I'll add that to some Satan is the symbol of all evil in the world but to many, Satan was the one who challenged the 'morals' of the one in charge, and was cast out. Satan represents the freedom from religious control, the freedom you get through critical thinking, to reject those often damaging mindsets and prejudices that breed within religious circles, and to decide yourself what it true, what is good and moral. And yes, don't ignore one of many, meaning he is not trying to suggest that he is literally the one and only devil, because following the mindset of what Satan represents to an atheist there is no belief in some kind of deity, creature or presence. This is more symbolic of choosing a freedom of thought mind-set. Love your reaction. I have never had a problem with blood and gore but watching someone struggling with whether or not to cut himself open is... It was hard actually, and then you see what happens and I thought 'ok I'm loving the humour of his reaction to what he pulls out 😁'

I think the line “I am one of many” shouldn’t be ignored, as in he isn’t the only one and implies we can all be satan, and you would be right that it’s sort of being said in the sense of liberation and freedom, but also ownership of oneself as their own “god”. Also the car was haunted! You see the ghost hand coming out of the back at one point, they’re exorcising it with the concoction they made. And the lady is a guard, they were guarding him but it seems someone snuck him in the scalpel.

Two different groups of cultists, different parts of the ritual. (Mpululu Ntuve is main dancer in red.) Well, there wasn't much dismemberment and Johannes wasn't really hurt.))
