Unfair to say when you can’t afford a Pentax . The Chinon has multi exposure The same seiko shutter as Pentax also has exposure lock which Pentax does not have

Thank you for this video. As with comment below - I have just bought one. (It's in the post to me!) You say that the the f stops are really just used with flash guns. So the camera will decide on the right f stop using its sensor?

The Nikor lenses deliver superb quality... You are better off using the best quality lenses available for it if you can. And the camera body is affordable if the best lenses available are expensive a 50ml suits me fine... And isn't expensive. 5:58

Love the winder lever... Wish Pentax made that a signature trait of theirs for later models. No other camera really matched that lever design afterward.

Shhhh. Don't tell everyone!!! 🤫 This is the current hot secret in film photography. These F80's (and F100's in particular) are the best value film cameras you can buy at the minute. With the advent of mirrorless digital cameras, at some point, the hipsters are going to finally figure it out, but for the moment we can still pick up high end film SLR cameras for peanuts! 🥳
@PhotoWays25 күн бұрын
Certainly they are excellent, but I can't see hipsters going for them when they could prance about with a zenit b and a leningrad meter.

I have the Fuji STX-2 and I think it is a great camera and I like your review here of the STX-1. It isn't K-Mount though - it is a proprietary "X-Fujinon" mount and extra lenses are rarer than hens teeth unfortunately. Keith

got a used 300s for under 150eu and not even 10k shuttercount with the usb rubber cap ripped off. now i have the 200 the 300s and the 700. phantastic image quality. the prices for these secondhand are insanely low now. just one thing thats nowadays negative, the weight. with an old 80-200 these cams are really damn heavy
@PhotoWays17 күн бұрын
Yeah, they are hefty, but worth the effort for the image quality. The CCD sensor of the D200 does eat up the battery power though.

I hope you kept it. They're wonderful cameras and this one seems in fantastic condition. It's quite rare that the flash port covers are still connected - if they're there at all. The only real flaw with the MX is that the shutter speed dial is too stiff to really use with your index finger while your eye is at the finder. You learn to pinch with the thumb and forefinger while still keeping your eye to the finder. But it never ceases to be a bit awkward tbh (source: I've used one since 1994). Edit: and I should mention that it may have the biggest, highest magnification viewfinder on any SLR ever.

I was just given this camera (without the data back or the "panoramic" thing, but same name printed on the body) along with three zoom lenses for free. And two (certainly thoroughly expired) rolls of print film. I’ll definitely get new batteries and shoot a roll to see if it works alright. Aaaah... the technology of yesteryear. As someone born in 1990, this kind of tech has a special meaning to me because on one hand, the late 90s were SO long ago and I was a little kid, but on the other hand... some pretty revolutionary technology was underway. I witnessed the transition into the digital age WHILE growing up. Most of the tech from back then (much of which doesn’t work anymore anyway) isn’t something I’d actually use, but this camera may find some use for me. Thanks for talking me through this camera, and also some Minolta history! =)

I have the same camera, but instead of a Tessar, it has a Pentacon Auto f 1.8 50 mm lens. To my mind this is a perfect beginner camera for film photography. The other cool feature of Praktica L series cameras like the MTL 5 B is the PL (Pentacon Loading) system for easier loading of film.
