Hinata isn't dumb. there's a difference between lacking intelligence and disliking studying. Hinata's consistently one of the most intelligent characters on the show, both emotionally, he's on par w Suga, and also game wise, as his frequent "superhuman" saves that are so indicative of his lack of training are due to his astute analytical skills. and when he actually studies, both with VB and w his studies, he gets good grades and tangible positive results. it's so surface level to take the words that characters use to describe Hinata on the show, instead of actually extrapolating the truth. the only reason Hinata gets labeled and touted as dumb is cz ppl keep **saying** he is, they don't demonstrate it. his sincerity is always taken as airheadedness but that's an actual trope, not a Hinata thing. it's as if people are watching a different show than what's actually being showed. as a R&D scientist, I'd take Hinata over Tsukishima any day. all you need is to motivate Hinata to perform the best he can and, often, all that's needed is to show that you'll try your best as well. Tsukishima's intelligence is wasted on his apathy and antagonism. people like that are actually v stunted intelligently and emotionally. which means Tsukishima operates on a v diminished level. a waste.
