In addition to what was previously mentioned about the strapping being too loose (you acknowledged that), and the jute not meant to be used as the exposed and sole seating surface, that webbing you used is not meant for seats at all. The webbing you used with the black is lighter weight for using as support when upholstering backs and sides of chairs. The jute with the red line is heavier weight and is used for supporting the seat.

I love it! ❤️ your choice of material was perfect and really beautiful. I just made my first cable spool foot ottoman 2 weeks ago and it turned out wonderful! 😊😎 I am so happy with myself. I researched, talked a cable guy into giving me the empty spool, took my time and just made it. I had so much fun and the time seemed to fly by. My daughter was so impressed she has asked me to make two for her! 😄 Thank you for sharing your video.

I am confused at the 3:28 mark. Did you cut a piece for all five sides of the ottoman?

Came here for something that was built, skipped the intro and realized by 1:50 she wasn't building anything, and am leaving. Of course this project was under $52, materials definitely cost more than that.

I love the fabric you chose, although i feel like it is sideways and would look better cut in the other direction. I'd love to get some. Although now I'm realizing it's been 6 years so I'm surely out of luck

Thank you for saying what the webbing is called and where to find it at the store. I'm restoring my grandmother's rocking chair for my nursery, and I pulled off the old webbing, but I want sure where to get new webbing. I'm making cushions to go on my project though.

The straps useful in traditional upholstery, because they provide flexible support that hard seating surfaces never give. However, they are not meant to be used this way, as a direct seat, they are meant to support some kind of cushion above them. They function like a box spring supporting a mattress. To make these chairs more comfortable and functional, especially for an adult, you can add upholstery foam cushioning over the straps, and cover with fabric, or you can try placing a premade dining seat cushion over the straps, like the memory foam ones sold in many home goods sections. If someone attempts the video project, they should also use smaller nails and stagger them, to they dont crack the frame.
